Another tired and dumbass generalization like "he's not a good fit".

This is sad and pathetic. The best they can do is Tubby Smith. The guy sucked 10 years ago. He can only suck worse now.

They are about to talk about it on The Sports Hangover on WIST 690AM in NOLA.

Wow.

That would be a pretty mediocre hire.

Might be an overstatement. Are you talking about 2001 when he made the Sweet16 or 2002 when he made the Elite8?

He's a so-so hire, but Tubby Smith is a solid coach.

He's definitely not a hire that I would expect people to go nuts over, but he's certainly not a terrible hire. Could do better, certainly could do worse.

Doesn't matter who the coach is, at Kentucky you are going to get recruits on tradition alone. Not taking away from anything he did there but it's different at schools like Minnesota and LSU. You have to work for recruits. Not going to be a good match. Possibly even worse than Trent, and I couldn't stand him.

Tubby's a good coach. He never lived up to the expectations of UK fans.

The problem is that he will be 61 years old next season and has faded out of the national spotlight. He's done slightly better than avg. at Minnesota in his tenure there, and even if he were able to build LSU back up, we would likely be going through this process all over again in 4 years or so.

Just checked his record. Never had a winning record in Big 10 in five seasons.

The Big 10 is a deeper basketball conference than the SEC, and Minnesota hasn't been any good since the basketball secretaries were writing papers for the players.

Not great, but solid coach. Should have us back in the NCAA's on a consistent basis.

Somebody earlier wanted to hire the NEXT coach now. It's a good point, but at this point our program is not attractive. Tubby can raise our profile before the NEXT hire.

I can barely even see who it is in the picture because his whole face doesn't even fit on my screen.

Well, to be fair, those next 9 years he went to the tourney every single year and never had a first-round exit.

Tubby didn't get a fair shake in Kentucky...He didn't win it all after the first year, but he had a very good tenure at Kentucky...just got a little stale at the tail end.

Its frickin Kentucky. Its like saying...hey, LSU Football went to a bowl game. You know, at some point you have to expect more than the average based on who you are. LSU ain't Kentucky. People don't dream of being a basketball star at LSU.
