All things being equal he'll stay at LSU. Now, if the Ags will pay him significantly more we'll lose him.

He gone. It does Chavis no good to look like he left LSU in the lurch, and it does LSU no good to look like they were blindsided. This is all face saving for a decision that Chavis made days, if not weeks ago, and kept secret from his employer.

The way I read this is, Chief didn't sign so he could have a meeting after the game with Les. This way, he can make his points, tell Les what needs to happen on the field...get some dialogue with the coach. If Les isn't open, doesn't like what Chief says, he walks. If he likes what takes place in the meeting, he stays. At this point in his career, $300k really means little to him. Not signing was his way of making a point.

There...that's my two cents.

This. That's why there's been no announcement.

If Chavis stays with LSU, will he learn how to defend the read/option? Cause that would be nice

A&M offered a $1.7 mil (30% raise) and a guaranteed contract. LSU didn't counter or match, yet Chavis is still debating whether or not he wants to stay...as an A&M fan, you should be happy to get him, but a little worried that he even had to think about it that hard.

Damn, Les really looked flustered, and very uncomfortable when talking about Chavis yesterday, I mean to the point of looking shocked and almost speechless. Very strange, made me cringe a bit to watch that.

Les oughta be flustered. Chavis is the only reason Les still has a job at LSU. Maybe they oughta take a cut out of Les's check to pay him. Les needs to quit running the damn Fred Flintstone offense.
