What can we do?

The actual answer starts with closing some of the excess 4 year universities we have in Louisiana. But that’s not politically possible.

What’s funny is these academia idiots hate sports because they take attention away from academics when if you invest in your athletic programs and have successful top tier programs you will grow your base, increase your enrollment numbers, and grow your academic potential. Just like others have said look at Alabama pre-Saban and now. On top of that successful athletic programs that make money can invest more and more dollars in the academic side of the university.

Again, alumni involvement was probably at an all time high when morale and school spirit came from having great athletics (late 90's and into the 2000's).

Tgats a tough question.

At LSU? Athletics can help academics. Most colleges don’t have that luxury.

At the same time, athletics shouldn’t be the main concern because the goal of college is education.

Hell, even TCU would have a lot to say about it. Gary Patterson has added over 500 million dollars in direct value to the university since he has been there. Dismissing the value of athletics entirely in this age is a downright fireable offense.

Football is the engine that drives the boat. Basketball could be s big contributor. He needs to understand that

But we are 4th in conference for median income and basically last in giving.

It’s a problem for sure. Like others have pointed out though you can use athletics to improve that if you play your cards right.

Hey, look academics is very important just don't lose sight of the amount of money good athletics programs can bring into a university. This prick King is just that a total fricking waste he needs to go yesterday, as well as, the bitch who is in charge of compliance Miriam Segar. Segar was very vocal in having coach WW suspended as I read that was Not what Joe wanted.

The sad truth is the consensus will be "Hell Yeah LSU's AD should care more about sports, not all.... just 99% sports and %1 academic center to support the "student" athletes." It's why Louisiana ranks at or near the bottom of most education metrics.

One of my kids is a Purdue graduate, after visiting different schools he said it looks like at Purdue academics come first, and sports are just to provide entertainment for students, but at LSU athletics come first, and the school is just there to give students something to do between games.

I've said it for years, it's time people realized college athletics are out of whack
