This is the time of year to be optimistic and excited, and I am.

However, I temper my optimism with realism.

It wasn't long ago people were posting Spring practice vids of Brick Haley and we all marveled at what a "disciplinarian" he was and his "passion."

Let's see what Tommie's practices translate to on the field in the 2017 season.

True, but he's not wrong. Brick was terrible.

There was more than some "engine knock" issues going on with the team.

1) I got tired just watching that

2) Guice looked like he was on an entirely different level with his explosiveness

I like how he called you a turd so you called him a shithead.

Both of you are winners.

He might be the best thing to happen to Nicholas.

I like TR a lot. Especially after seeing more of his intensity and emphasis on good technique.

With coaching like that, the falloff after Guice leaves might not be as bad as anticipated.

like how coach is tough with these guys!!!! For far too long I feel like our boys loss the edge and we're kinda soft.

Really? LSU didn't just have a RB break every single season record? And you think our guys have been soft?

Any body on this board could have stood there and done that. Why so impressed? Instead of screaming "get lower" "too high" how bout some specific feedback to actually make them better.

Sounds pretty specific to me.

Because for a guy like Brosette or Williams, getting low might mean the difference between a 1 yard gain and a 5 or 6 yard gain. Folks have been commenting about D Williams looking "slow" for the past two seasons. He seems to get hit at the line pretty often and taken down quickly. Getting low could help the, break that first tackle. It's a VERY important technique for most running backs not named Leonard Fournette. He was simply a special talent. Darrell Williams can be a very good mauler/change of pace/power back if he can learn to keep his pads low. I really like TR's emphasis on this.
