Pick your best 9 amd roll them out. Obviously that can change during the season but come the f on. I vividly remember early in the season where Paul was literally making his line up based on the frigging wind direction. Again, best 9 and go fing play!

It is desperation when you don't have the knowledge or ability to make the team better baseball players. Hiring your buddies instead of coaches that make up for your weaknesses doesn't help either.

I have said this for years. Really curious as to why he wanted to hit and run with Milazzo batting...bating .160. With two men on.

The decisions have been questionable at best for much of this season. The other issue is the big gaping hole in the batting order. We had 4 or 5 in the lineup that could hit yesterday. After that it was a dead. So every other inning or so you get the chance to score, then your bats go dead for an inning and a half. It's really f'n hard to win a fight with one arm tied behind your back. I get that it's unlikely to have .350 averages top to bottom but to drop into the .100 range? So to me it's not just the decisions, but the decisions that are forced to be made because of the absence of the ability to develop a reliable offense. After going down 4-1 in the first inning the writing was on the wall. Being down 3 runs after one inning shouldn't be insurmountable.

Looking forward to a new chapter in LSU baseball. LSU was the cream of the crop. It used to be that place you would have to go through to get to the CWS. Hasn't been that way in a while. I look forward to the return under new leadership.

Last night, as happened too often this year, the team looks lost regarding pitch recognition. Or there was a complete lack of what pitch to expect. EX: Bianco in the first inning.

From the second inning on there were multiple innings that were sacrifice situations to get runners in scoring positions. Something had to be done to get something positive going.

Oh well. Guess we will sweat out the tournament announcement show, and see if we have more baseball to watch.

it felt like he was making that "nola to short\lemahieu to 2nd" move in deep despearation to look like a genius......and it failed miserably.

And there are a few huge differences with what Mainieri did.

He put Nola at shortstop and stuck with him even when he looked lost at the plate. That move this year was Thompson to short and Bianco to 2nd. Later in the season, the infield finally looked comfortable. Mainieri made a huge mistake moving Bianco from 2nd. He's played great in CF, but I think he would have been much more valuable to the team at 2B, especially in hindsight.

It also would have been nice if Mainieri had convinced/re-recruited Hampton to stay and at least wait until the end of the season to decide on transferring.

eta: Also, "defensive specialist" Austin Nola still managed a 0.240 batting average as freshman. The fact that we have 3 starters batting below that is pathetic.

This team hasn't hit well overall since Cannizaro left.
We need a coach/staff that has some fire to get the players up to their potential. They kept scanning the dugout late in the game and it was the look of a defeated team. No enthusiasm, no rally cap; just a dead look of defeat.
To me it is obvious that PM and his staff are the heart of the issue. We need new/young blood. A coach that is out on the field directing/coaching this ball club. I hope we choose wisely.

And two spectacular hitters coming up. I could understand it possibly if we had Milazzo behind Milazzo.

184 pounds is what he’s listed at, and I’d be surprised if he’s over 170

Another one of many CPM's patented and now expected strange decisions.

I have always believed this is his biggest shortcoming. Maineri has always seemed to lack that ‘gut instinct’ on when to pull a pitcher or leave him in. Gut instinct on starting lineups, players potential or lack thereof. Skip seemed to take ‘gut feel’ to the next level which made Maineri’s shortcoming even more glaring. Maineri tried to compensate with an overdose of stats that created an overthinking of most decisions.
