Financial losses are minimal for both schools. People bitching about 1.5 million dollar buyouts- we're getting a check for over 40 mil from TV money.

What hurts LSU is this- we (and Florida) both lose a game played this season, a written-in win. That's important, for perception among the committee and media, if nothing else... if we had gotten the McNeese game in last season, then last year we would have had yet another 10 win season. Same applies this year- we now have zero margin for error left to reach that baseline.
If you're competing for a playoff or bowl spot, keep in mind that LSU can only be 9-2, 10-2 if we win out and win the SEC. Other programs are going to be 12-1 or 11-2, and the numbers do make a psychological difference.

Where we really take a hit is long-term. We now have only 3 conference games at home, and now I read that we're playing BYU in Houston. That means we have 6 games in Tiger Stadium instead of 8, and it sounds like the only marquee games are going to be Auburn, A&M and Arkansas. The others are rent-a-wins. That's not a great schedule for the home crowd to view.
People talk about "adjustments", but I don't think they will happen. It's been suggested that Tennessee flip the game venue, but that won't happen, because it put's Tennessee in our position. People also talk about moving the BYU game out of Houston, but I think the TV money is better in the NFL stadium site, and frankly, the stadium will be fuller in the second half if left over there, so I think they leave it alone.

Bottom line, I think "LSU" will be fine, but the local businesses that benefit from home games will lose a quarter of what they could have had.

Man, LSU made 57.3 million dollars for the 14 -15 season. 3 million + or - isn't what that was about. It was about respect. It was about Joe feeling like he bent over backwards to help in the beginning... To feeling like the university was not being respected.

Miss something??....

Yes.....per Dandydom.com today "Turns out that LSU and Florida will buy out their non-conference games scheduled for that day and Florida will come to Tiger Stadium for a game that is to start no later than 3:30 p.m. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, the SEC’s insurance policy will assist LSU & Florida in paying the buyouts."

Not a total 'loss'-------???.........

It's my understanding we wouldn't have "kept the $1.5 Million" no matter what. These small schools are getting that money regardless of if the game is played. What hurts is not having the gameday revenue to make that up. But the $1.5 is a sunk loss already.

Reminds me of the Saints with Ditka and Ricky Williams. Trade all of the next 3 years to do a deal today. Result was years of problems. Alleva sucks

Look we got FL two years in a row at home. So they get us two years in a row at home. It is what it is. Who cares?? Something had to be done and this is what they come up with. LSU will just have to look at the positives and win games period. Who knows what might happen. Who's to say FL isn't in worse shape when they come to BR? Anything can happen LSU just needs to win the next game on the schedule. LSU has the whole SEC and looks like the nation worried about us. Let's take advantage of it and start winning our games. That's the only way we get our respect. Nothing will ever be given to LSU like other they are for other schools. If we see some sort of an advantage when the next storm hits we simply need to take advantage of it instead of actually trying to do what ever we can to make things easy on everyone. We'll just do what's best for LSU. Screw everyone else now

Someone explain this to me this....

Unmolested season -

LSU has home game on 19th 2016 vs. USA
LSU has home game vs. FLA 2017

Molested season -

LSU has home game on 19th 2016 vs. FLA
LSU has road game vs. FLA 2017

Is everybody retarded? LSU lost a home game out of this deal and got nothing in return. WTF?!

...and by the way, we should have been playing a seriously banged up FLA not a healthy fully recovered FLA.

I don't understand people who think this is a good or even ok deal for lsu. People talking about both teams making equal concessions are stupid. The ineptness of the Florida administration and the sec caused these problems. They should be the ones making the concessions.

Who cares man this game had to happen.. Would you rather lose the FL game or the SA game? we got two games in a row at home so they will have to get two games in a row at home. This night and day thing is dumb, you play games at all hours so that is just stupid. It's actually harder on FL because they have to wake up earlier and their routine isn't there bc it's an away game. Is FL in a little better position now probably but no one knows what might happen between now and then. You could also say that this LSU team has time to build momentum and become a complete team by Novemeber. FL could fall apart by then? Who knows... Just stop with the he had this we have that crap. You can't tell anything right now. We'll see in a few weeks who got what here.

Money wise, it's not a good deal for us. The only thing I can think of was that this decision was not based on finances. It's becoming more apparent that this decision was based on the schedule and not having to play three away games in 12 days this year. And the only way to do that was to give up one of our home games next year that was in a four game home stretch. It was about our schedule. This decision was based solely on what was going to have the least amount of impact possible when it came to us having a chance to win schedule wise. Yes, playing in Florida hurts our chances next year, but playing there this year on 11/19 was not something possible for us considering the schedule. That's what everyone (the media, Sankey, Foley) but us wanted. It sucks, but it's true.

Our only other option was to leave the game cancelled, but that option was looking more and more impossible with the pressure from the media and probably the SEC. Both our teams would have been ineligible for the SECCG.

What we got was not a perfect scenario, but we didn't have many options short of turning the entire thing upside down and just flat out refusing everything. I'm fine with it. I think we made a decision that gave us the best chance to win games considering the circumstances. I have no problem with decisions being made based on winning.

And don't forget that Florida got to dictate what time we play OUR home game as well, so tell me again how Florida lost in this whole deal. LSU got screwed plain and simple.

You realize we don't even get to determine our own game times? TV contracts dictate our game times

Right, this is a moot point because CBS was picking this game up at 2:30 no matter what. Alleva "giving in " to this stipulation was a joke.

I think we had a choice to play the game on 11/19 either in BR or Florida. We won't be losing a home game this way and I think playing FL will generate a lot more revenue than an OOC game against S Alabama. Who knows, they might be trying to reschedule that game for 10/29 instead of another week off.

As for next year, I wouldn't be surprised if the BYU game is moved to BR making the only downside of all this the fact that we will have a tougher schedule in November and have to play at Florida 2 years in a row. Seems like people are forgetting they're playing here 2 years in a row. This is probably the best possible scenario for LSU. Not perfect but props to Alleva for making it happen. Really shocked we aren't playing at FL instead.

We make more money playing it in Houston than in BR, FYI. (Not local economy money, school money).

I have a question for some of you. Short of flat out refusing to play this game, what other options do you think were reasonably available for LSU? No other schools were willing to move their schedule. December 3rd was pursued heavily by LSU, but the SEC refused. So do you think that our only other option was to just refuse to play Florida this year?

Pretty equal gains and losses.

What? We replace a home game with a home game, lose 1.5 million for the buyout and are honoring the tickets from that game. Florida loses $500k and the Presbyterian game and replaces it with LSU next season. They are going to make up that $500k and much more with the much better home game and the corresponding difference in ticket prices.

We shouldn't be giving up anything for Florida's bullshite dodge. They cancelled because they knew they'd be able to walk all over Joe Alleva in negotiations and now they have.

I feel like playing Florida will generate more revenue than having played South Alabama thus justifying some of the buyout cost...plus now the kids and coaches have a chance at going to Atlanta....and we will have played 5 SEC home games back to back years, the uproar if that happened to Alabama on this board would be epic
