You know what you do here sammy. How many times a day do you bring up the troy loss?

Whenever it’s relevant

Which is often.

Say if we are having a conversation about Canada and why his offense failed, the circumstances surrounding the Troy game are very relevant.

What else do we have to go on in respect of O, other than his past performance? Literally everything else that he has done is intangible (and also nothing that shouldn't be expected of a head coach if we're being honest).

The only time we were within 2 scores of Alabama was before their second score.

That Troy loss should never NOT be brought up.

It's gettin a little stale in my opinion. It was an incredibly egregious loss. Some of the things that came out afterward about the offense sound an awful lot like what happened at Ole Miss. It's still relevant in that regard, but Im trying to look forward and hoping the team learned from that game.

This is how I feel as well. Either put up 10 wins in this gauntlet of a season and show us O's the man, or blow it up and get someone who can do better than Miles in here. 8-9 wins is not even the status quo.

Fast Food mind set

it is the norm so you fit right into how most think

Not sure what the fast food mindset is, so maybe you can explain it to me. I'm assuming you think it's where all us O haters want results now and somehow that's unreasonable.

So...

I guess I'll counter your argument with some facts, although as usual with O defenders, I'm not really sure what your argument is.

LSU Record
2013 10–3 (5–3 SEC)
2014 8–5 (4–4 SEC)
2015 9-3 (5-3)
2016 8-4 (5-3)
2017 9-4 (6-2)

Ok, so a bad year is 8-4. An ok year is 10-3. Miles had bad years at 8-4 and 9-3 so he got fired. Please explain how an O coached team winning less than 8-9 games is anything that's different than what Miles did? And there's serious doubt this team will win 8-9 games.

And why would O get a pass on winning less than 8 games? There's a word for that. It's called regression.

I’m not playing so I’ll concentrate on what I want.

Like drinking as much beer as possible on Sunday and hoping we don’t get embarrassed.

It's possible to "concentrate on this season" while also recognizing the Troy loss, which occurred less than a year ago, was disastrous and doesn't bode well for the idea that O has magically become a good coach in the 10 years since his Ole Miss shite show.

People still bring up “clock management” as a strength of O’s and y’all about the 2009 Ole Miss game.

But Troy is off limits.

Same thing with losses last year from Fisher and Herman. Their losses are quickly pointed as a reason to downplay them as quality head coaches.

Yes...as opposed to that.

There's plenty to discuss concerning the direction of the team and where people stand on it but people would rather harp on shite from last year.

Again...and forgive me for repeating myself but it seems necessary for some...but Ed Orgeron has yet to have a truly successful season as a head coach. As such, the only thing we have to talk about is what he's already done, and to critique it. and if we're being honest, unless and until he does have a successful season it's reasonable for people to worry aloud that's simply his water level. Forging that part of the discussion in favor of only on hopes and dreams for the yet unplayed season may make our worries go away for a while, but it's not addressing the only facts we currently have on hand.

quote:

I can understand if you don't like some of the players that O has brought in to shore up weak spots or his choices of assistants.

I've literally never once commented badly about a player under Orgeron. In fact, one of my biggest regrets for the program in general is thinking about those players that will come through the program under his watch "as opposed to" coming through during a competent coach's watch. It matters to me that they may potentially get caught up in what I ultimately think will fail.

I have ABSOLUTELY been critical of some of his coaching hires, most notably promoting our TE's coach into a position he has not held full time in 20 years. And again, most reasonable people outside of this board and not wearing P&G glasses would wonder what in the actual frick Orgeron was doing there. But on here it's spin, spin, spin...

quote:

Constant hate for the man isn't rational nor does it add any credibility to your posts.

I don't hate him...yet*. Hate requires more effort than I'm willing to put into thinking about him so far. I do dislike him a bunch, and most of that is based on what I knew about him long before he ever stretched on an LSU polo. My feelings about him have only grown worse since then, though thanks largely due to his own actions since taking over as interim.

As for my credibility...it's based on not lying. I genuinely do my best not to straw man anyone's POV which ought to go a long way. While you or others may disagree with any one of my points, I'd hope it's obvious I genuinely believe them and when I state a fact I back it up. If it's an opinion, I don't paint it as a fact. I also have a 12+ year track record of posting on the board, during which time I have mostly been called a sunshine pumping for being too positive!

* I reserve the right to start hating him if he either outright tanks the program or further mires it into mediocrity and makes i that much harder for us to ultimately pull out of with his replacement.

Its not that Troy is off limits. But whenever someone starts a thread in August expressing optimism for the season some knuckledragger has to respond with "Troy." Its stupid in that context.
