I think that's fair. I'm not trying to flame or troll. I've just seen some people here have really really high expectations and it seems too much. I think some people think 6-6 but are in hiding until the first play.

If I tried to take off the purple and gold glasses, I think 8-4 is about right. Maybe 9-3. Unfortunately, our QB is one of two things... an "unknown"... or a "negative". Neither of those helps.

It's negative, not unrealistic. We went 8-4 last year and should have improved play from every position other than DE.

I don't think so.

Negative: 7-5
Positive: 11-1
Realistic: 9-3

I only say 9-3 realistic in a holistic view and knowing that every week in the SEC can lead to losing a game you should win on paper. That said, when looking at each individual game I can't find 3 that we should lose. I think the Auburn game will be a close loss just because it is so early in the season and right after what will be a very physical game against Moo State. Other than that, the Bama game will always be epic and close so we could lose that one (although I certainly hope we break that streak). It is then extremely difficult to pinpoint any other game we would lose. Trouble is that history shows we have found ways to lose games we should win (97 Ole Miss game the week after beating #1 UF comes to mind).

Eh... I'm trying to keep my expectations low on QB play. If they're good, it's a pleasant surprise. I don't think it's realistic to think Les or the QBs suddenly turn into positives on this team.

It wouldn't be the first time we've far exceeded our QB play, either.
10-2 in 2005
10-2 in 2007
9-3 in 2009
10-2 in 2010
12-0 in 2011
10-2 in 2012

How low do your expectations have to be to predict we won't be better at the position than we were a year ago?

Not that betting lines mean much, but Alabama will probably be favored. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if LSU is the underdog at MSU. And depending how the season plays out, may be at Ole Miss as well.
