Is one a Nega-Tiger if all that he asks for is a fundamentally solid football team that is well-disciplined and does not need crazy-arse luck to beat an inferior opponent?

Is one a Nega-Tiger if you want an offense that show just a hint of good-coaching and organization?

Are you a Nega-Tiger if you would like the head coach to maybe make just a little sense at one of post game press-conference?

maybe you only watched lsu in football and only started to watch football this year, but this happens a lot in the sport. Get over it.

There are lots of times in football where teams have trouble running a two minute offense, but there are very few instances where the coach is clueless while the final seconds in the game tick off the clock. Of all the things LSU fans criticize coaches for, being aware of the game clock and knowing that the head coach is the only one allowed to call a time out from the sideline is not too much for fans to ask of their $3 million-plus per year coach. As far as getting over it, again, fans are justified to be concerned about this part of Miles' on-field ability since he has displayed a level of ineptitude in this area that is usually associated with unsuccessful coaching. After all, Miles is still the LSU coach.

First of all, "negatiger" is really a childish word and i wish it would go away, unless of course i am conversing with 6 year olds. Secondly, you P&G glass wearing people need to realize that its not about wanting NS back!!!!! IT'S NOT IT'S NOT IT'S NOT IT'S NOT.

The real issue is that after the last few seasons, you can see the sometimes little and sometimes big mistakes Miles makes on a regular basis. I like Miles, and think he's a good coach and a great recruiter. NS is a great coach and a great recruiter. All of you "POSI" people think no one appreciates the winning we are getting here with Miles and that is completely wrong. The issue is that a much BETTER all around coach is now over in Tuscaloosa and i don't think Les is going to win but 1 out of every 4 games against Bama because Les just isn't that precise in gametime coaching. 9-3 is great, but when the coach down the road is going to go 10-2 or 11-1 or 12-0, LSU is already playing for 2nd place. So, i'd be happy with Miles if NS wasn't down the road, because i know we could be in the SECCG regularly. Don't see that happening now. Can i predict the future??? No....but I'm sure some of you chest thumping "POSI" people would like to tell me NS won't be that successful every year, because look what happened when he was at LSU. Really doesn't matter, because look what he's done there already(guess he's gotten better) All you people have to ask yourself is this....who is the stronger coach??? The stronger coach of this matchup will be in the SECCG every year 3 out of 4 times until he leaves the school. If you can argue that LM is the better coach, then you are lying to yourself and shouldn't be insulting people that want to voice their opinion of what they think the future of LSU football will be like.

I think the one thing that frustrates most "nega-tigers" but hasn't been articulated here is that LSU is way too fast, athletic, and all-around talented to be pulling out last-second wins against 5-7 teams and scoring 3 points on a Florida defense that Bama scored 32 on. Please do not try to say that Bama has more talented players on offense (Ingram and Richardson are great backs, but LSU's were no slouches either. before they all got injured of course). I believe the difference between these two offenses is that Saban's coaching style (emphasizing fundamentals, no mistakes, repetition) filters down to the offensive coaches and coordinator (yes I know Saban is a defensive guy). I feel like Les Miles pretty much gives Crowton free reign over the offense with limited input, whereas Applewhite probably gets an earful from Saban if he does something not to his liking.

Short answer to the original question of What can Miles do? Get a new OC and learn to better overall manage a football team. LSU has too much talent to be going 9-3. Good record? Yes, but not you're bringing in top 10 recruiting classes every year.

i want to see the team play like a well coached team.
the other big pet peeve, which has been mentioned - put the best player in. rahim alem should have been used this year as a role player like he has his whole career. Hell, if Mark Ingram would've been on this team, he would've not gotten into the game because Scott and Williams are seniors.

I believe that Saban is a better coach. he knows where the weaknesses are and recruits to fill them, coaches up to fill them, changes a player's position to fill them - he does something about it, at least all he can. Miles just rolls along, like this is the best we can do, so no sense trying anything else.

I, like others, like miles, and recognize he does have some strengths. he needs to recognize his weaknesses, and compensate somehow.

This is what LSU has missed in SEC play the past two seasons. We have not been able to finish off Alabama at all.

Not sure who's at bama, but applewhite is at Texas.

Secondly, miles needs to demonstrate that he is at least capable of being a decent gameday coach. He's a great recruiter thus far, but he does more thongs during a game that makes you say "what the hell?" And thats great when you're converting 4th downs, throwing tds with no time left. But even if it works, its still a terrible call. And that's evidenced by a hugely talented team being mediocre on the sec the past 2 years. How many other coaches will just not let guys that got close to 100 yards rushing in a half not touch the ball again?

Can he keep it within 8 games in the SEC standings over the next 2 years?

Win the SEC Title next year. If he doesn't win the West he must be fired IMO.

Why is it that when a poster starts a thread like this they never seem to stick around and actually debate the issue? Also, "calling out" a section of posters, as you did when you started your thread with "NegaTigers," is incendiary in its own right and isn't asking for intelligent debate at all.

Take some more responsibility about the offensive playcalling and put LSU's talented athletes into a position to make plays.

Be aware and composed enough to realize that time is running off the clock and that you need to call timeout.

Yes, let's start with clock management, secondly, coaching hires ie. dual def. cord., I don't have time to make an exhaustive list, but a start. Oh, and hire a media/marketing person so he doesn't have to do half time interviews....or interviews at all.

he needs to get someone who has some organization skills on his staff. His staff and sideline is always in chaos.

Realism has little to do with one being dissatisfied with a coach who has the best 5 yr winning percentage in LSU history, a SEC 5 yr winning percentage one game off Saint Nick's, and still has a shot at 4 top 10 national finishes in 5 yrs...a feat never done by another LSU coach.

If we are going to knock the man over his play calling, time management, and speaking style, lets be objective enough to note that in results, what most of us and what most coaches are most judged by, there has been none better in LSU history for a 5 yr period.
