doesn't force them to throw the ball more. It just means instead of 2nd and 3 or 4 with guice running on 1st down, it will be 2nd and 6 or 7. Having an elite guy to hand the ball off to with an inexperienced qb is huge. It takes the pressure off the qb. Just think of how much worse the offense would have been without lf7 and dg5 breaking off huge runs or making 5 yards instead of -3.

I see what you are saying and I agree elite running backs are awesome. But I was saying is that you can still have an awesome running game without an elite back. So just because we don’t have an “elite” back (which we may and just not know) we can still run it down people’s throats.

OK gonna be fine. Best QB stable talent-wise in years. CEH gonna surprise a lot of you folks. Ensminger gonna surprise more.

Actually I'm glad that they do not have a great RB this year to give the ball to a lot, it forces them to go to the pass now, and they have considerable talent at the WR position.

I agree. I also state the having LF was one of the reasons les miles got complacent. his mind was back in the day that Hershal Walker won the NC for Georgia. the defenses these days are just too sophisticated for that and can shut down any run game if that's all you have.

Starts with OL. Good OL can make all the difference. Elite RB is the exception; at LSU a stable of decent to good RBs with fresh legs pounding at them can still wear out even good defenses, when you have a good OL blocking out there. We’ve seen this happen many times before. Elite is nice, but a luxury.

You need a Elite RB when you don’t have a QB that can pass the ball!! LSU never had one in years. No QB No RB then you can’t mve the ball at all

You must not have watched Alvin Kamara run and catch for the Saints this year, otherwise, you wouldn't be saying this.

Of course it isn’t. None of those playoff teams had one. Chubb, Michel, Rodney Anderson who we wanted, pick a 5 Star Bama back, and CJ Fuller (Travis Ettienne - who y’all lost y’all shite over when he went to Clemson, but that was Miles’ fault right?).

Get out of here with that shite you freaking CheeriO. He swung and missed miserably last year with the big back Akers and y’all want everything to be good because we got a slow, no vision Brossette and a skat back in CEH.
It will be miserable to run play action pass like dumbass SE likes to run when you don’t have any semblance of a running game.

according to Aranda, Ensminger is a better play caller than Canada,

All three of them, O, Aranda, and Ensminger are all best of friends,
why did it take 2.5 MM to keep Arranda then? And for Ensminger that is EXACTLY WHY PEOPLE HATE ORGERON. Good ole boy network failed miserably and brought us the late ‘80’s and 90’s you freaktard. Those of us that were around for that clown show don’t need a second act, but here it is. Retards on the Mississippi.

He says Steve knows how to identify the defense's weaknesses and how to exploit those weaknesse

Link? If he was so good why hasn’t he been an OC since the freaking 90’s? Why was he fired at TAMU and other places. Hell he was probably even fired at his Alma Mater - Central High School.
quote:

In addition, I'm also glad O hired Sullivan to work with the receivers because if we are going to run an RPO offense with 3 or 4 wideouts, then we are going to need a bunch of very good receivers to make it work.

of course you are you Orgeron knob-slobber, lets see a FIRED BROKE DOWN WHITE 73 y/o crony relate to and recruit 16 y/os when you have the worse head coach and a 60 y/o OC on the recruiting trail.
They hired a ST coordinator that Saints fans HATED. Dude was HORRIBLE with NO. And Mr Mold Lawsuit arse former Mandeville HC who is represented by this assholes cousin and who coached his sons. Don’t give me that shite because I know the truth.

All these hires were “crony” hires for paychecks for these old bastards.

Steve is really going to piss off all you LSU/O haters because he is going to be really good.

stop acting like you know him you dumbass. You don’t know him but, my younger cousin who grew up off of Hooper Road are friends with him as they played at Central and graduated together. He will be the first to tell you SE only did this because he was forced into it. He was very happy with his role and salary. That excuse about time at the end of last season was that - an excuse. Ther was actually more time then than now to implement an offense.

You can’t be that stupid. You have to be a Derek crony or Derek himself - which would explain a lot. If you are Derek - frick YOU.

There is no need for a great player at any one position. But the more great players you have, the better you will be.

An average running back, like D Williams, will not take a small opening and turn it into a 70 yard TD. A great back will. But you’re right that no holes won’t work no matter how great your back is.

It's isn't necessary if you can actually complete passes regularly.

With a great play caller (coach) who fits his scheme to his talent, you win games.

Until LSU learns how to coach a good offense line, it doesn't matter if we have a QB or not! Put BAMA'S qb with LSU line & he wouldn't do shite!!!

We have Ducre who has been very good when given a chance run the ball. Check him out in spring games and his performance in high school. And this is "far-out" but, Queen was outstanding running the ball in high school.

We do have some alternatives.

Great to have one, but without other components in place a great RB cant win big games. Of all fan bases, LSU fans should realize this.

If there is no room to run and D is expecting him, not going to have much success.
But with a good passing game, and spread formation, even an average RB can be sufficient to produce results.
So, don't sweat the lack of an "elite RB" next year. We have serviceable RBs and if our offensive scheme is good with a good passing game whoever we have in the game will do fine.
BTW, I really wanted a up and coming name for OC but after hearing Steve E's ideas I am excited. If he will spread the field and throw it from all formations and blow open the tendencies, I think we can have some success with either Brennan or Narcisse. And I hope we have a package for both of them and use two QB's in every game as it makes it that much harder for DC's to prepare.

If you don't have a stud QB, you HAVE to have a stud RB, or a ridiculous defense.

I believe LSU's defense will be top 5 next year, I think two backs (Curry and CEH) will prove to be really good for us, and Brennan will probably play decent. However, I believe we struggle early on and are out of contention for anything before the Bama game.

Look at next year as another rebuilding year.

Hell no I wasn’t crying about a one loss SEC team getting in. For Christ sakes it’s the sec and typically a one loss team in this conference is pretty dang good. Hell a 2 loss sec team can be pretty good as well if you have forgotten.
