Great to have one, but without other components in place a great RB cant win big games. Of all fan bases, LSU fans should realize this.

If there is no room to run and D is expecting him, not going to have much success.
But with a good passing game, and spread formation, even an average RB can be sufficient to produce results.
So, don't sweat the lack of an "elite RB" next year. We have serviceable RBs and if our offensive scheme is good with a good passing game whoever we have in the game will do fine.
BTW, I really wanted a up and coming name for OC but after hearing Steve E's ideas I am excited. If he will spread the field and throw it from all formations and blow open the tendencies, I think we can have some success with either Brennan or Narcisse. And I hope we have a package for both of them and use two QB's in every game as it makes it that much harder for DC's to prepare.

Actually I'm glad that they do not have a great RB this year to give the ball to a lot, it forces them to go to the pass now, and they have considerable talent at the WR position.

Having elite players at any position is never overrated.

ETA: The saints disagree with you.

An elite back can help alleviate pressure in different areas offensively

I'm down on him hiring Ensminger myself, but I choose to reserve my judgement until I see what happens next season. I'll be paying close attention to this spring game, and I hope Ed Orgeron doesn't be an a-hole again with closed practices and let's the media report what's going on.

but if Ensminger opens it up passing wise like he's saying he will, I want to see that because with the talent that they have at WR it will be thrilling. LSU has Dee Anderson, S Sullivan, J Giles, D Davis, D Dillon, M Netherly, J Jefferson, R McMath, and T Marshall, J Jenkins, K Jones and maybe J Chase coming in to join that list. To me no other college has talent like that at the WR position, all big, strong and physical WR's that can run and block. And two QB's that are talented and capable, but with different styles. I'll hold my judgement for awhile if you don't mind.

Yea. Having an elite player at a skill position is the last thing you want.

Steve's grandma could go up there and say I'm gonna spread the field and throw.

It’s nice to have a stud RB, but it all boils down to can your QB make plays

It’s been awhile since LSU has not had an elite running back so it might not be as nice once reality sets in at the beginning of the season.. I really think CEH will step up greatly this season and will blow up! For Brossette I hope he finally reaches his potential because there’s plenty there but if not the Freshman will take over. Curry and Provens will be very nice to have but I really think Curry becomes a star! The big plus is T-rob will be forced to put together a real rotation with no star back. Next years class will be a nice relief tho with not one not two but three elite back more than likely becoming tigers!

Well, everyone wants the best, but no one really knows who is best.

Anyway, according to Aranda, Ensminger is a better play caller than Canada, and he ought to know because he schemed against the both of them every day in practice. He says Steve knows how to identify the defense's weaknesses and how to exploit those weaknesses. Which is why I'm not pissed off at the choice for the new OC.

All three of them, O, Aranda, and Ensminger are all best of friends, so coach O is surrounding himself with the two people he trusts and respects the most on his coaching staff to be his coordinators, which is a good thing. O did not trust Canada because Canada went around his back and undermined his authority.

There is also a rumor that Ensminger called the offense in the Texas A&M game, which was by far LSU's most productive game of the season.

On the QBs though, I hope one of the three wins the job, to not only eliminate all the stupid arguments that will inevitably occur, but primarily because I hate a two-quarterback system.

Moreover, I hope it is one of the two dual-threat QBs that win the starting job, not because I don't like Myles, but because I believe a good dual-threat QB is what we need to stay competitive in the SEC.

Not to mention, that with Tua leading Bama for the next two seasons, it's going to be incredibly hard for anyone, let alone LSU, to beat Bama for at least the next two seasons. Not to mention, that Alabama has an outstanding class of freshmen receivers they brought in too.

In addition, I'm also glad O hired Sullivan to work with the receivers because if we are going to run an RPO offense with 3 or 4 wideouts, then we are going to need a bunch of very good receivers to make it work.

Not necessarily the back but an offenses ability to run the rock.

I 100% agreed with everything you said. I think the E hire will end up being good for the team.

This is the only thing I disagree with....well not so much disagree but it can be done different now. Alabama showed us that this year. Take care of business and maybe slip up against a good team can still be rewarded in the long run. Other than that mindset totally agree with everything and yes Tua is going to be tough to beat.

It doesn't force them to throw the ball more. It just means instead of 2nd and 3 or 4 with guice running on 1st down, it will be 2nd and 6 or 7. Having an elite guy to hand the ball off to with an inexperienced qb is huge. It takes the pressure off the qb. Just think of how much worse the offense would have been without lf7 and dg5 breaking off huge runs or making 5 yards instead of -3.

Ummm ok. Just for fun then lasts think about this. Just for fun so I’m not doing this to get beat up and I’m not at all saying it’s gonna happen. LSU or goes 11-1 next year with the one lose to an undefeated SEC champ Bama with wins over Miami, Georgia, Auburn and all the other hooligans on the schedule. Same scenario happens in the other conferences as it did this year with Clemson and Bama ( replacing them from Georgia) and Oklahoma getting in (could be Ohio state as the big 12 is gonna suck without Baker) you don’t think we would get in? You don’t think that a one loss LSU team wouldn’t get in over a PAC 10 or 12 or whatever it’s call champ and a Big 12 champ?
