White helmets are an abomination

I second that emotion. Ditto white pants.

-as are the purple ones

I disagree. The purple helmets looked sharp the one game which they were worn. However, it shouldn't become a standard part of the alternate uniform canon.

gold/white/gold

The classic among classics. And, I agree that gold/purple/gold should be the preferred alternative when the gold/white/gold isn't a gametime option.

Before this site was available, the Tiger fans were damn near violent about wearing purple jerseys. Tiger fans were absolutely convinced the purple caused team to play bad!!!

Gold purple gold such as yesterday looks very sharp. I would much rather see that than white purple white as an alternate uniform. But the traditional white and gold looks best.

I believe 95% of Tiger Rant posters agree. It's the 5% outliers who gum up the gears.

The ones who will sit here and say that it’s a traditional look are idiots. It’s from the curly years, and it should be left there. It looks like a clown outfit. The white is such a better look.

Amen to this sentiment! I was a student at LSU from 86 to 91. I HATED the purple jerseys at home! Freaking NCAA rules making home team wear dark jerseys was BS. If for nothing else, I am grateful to DiNardo for his "Bring Back the Magic" campaign and bringing back white jerseys at home for our Tigers.

The fans would begin at start of season talking about which game would be the purple jerseys (think they only wore purple on time during year. The administration asked for special permission to wear white at home - NCAA had ruled all teams would wear dark jerseys at home.

This was big deal to the fan base.

played exclusively in white jerseys both home and away

That's not possible, given opponents who choose to exercise their rights to wear white jerseys, for whatever reason.

Sorry, did not see your post. Didn't realize was DiNardo got this done!

By the way, I was student 'bout 30 years before and the feeling was very prevalent then!

I may wrong, but I think the NCAA allowed LSU to wear white at home and since dark jerseys were to be worn away, they wear white away.

This sentiment reached critical mass during Saban's first season at LSU following the infamous loss to UAB. The was actually an effort to get NICK SABAN out of town on a rail during the week following that disaster.

Yea, but occasionally an opponent insists on wearing white. Oregon State in 2004, South Carolina and Florida when Spurrier was coaching, Miss. State at home on several occasions, and Vandy two weeks ago, and back in 1996.

Unfortunately the issue isn't as simple as LSU being able to wear white for every game.

Yeah, I do recall that Vandy was pissed that we had taken DiNardo from them, so they forced us to wear dark jerseys when they came to play us in Baton Rouge during those years. DiNardo retaliated by dressing LSU out in gold/yellow jerseys during those games.
