Dan Wolken yet to chime in as triggering intensifies
Rothstein Tweet

NC State received no postseason ban for its role in college basketball's FBI scandal, per release. Former head coach Mark Gottfried received a one-year show cause. Former assistant Orlando Early received a six-year show cause.

It's the least they could do after absolutely shafting NC State in Omaha

quote:

The Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) ruled on Monday that the Wolfpack would have to vacate the wins from its 2016-17 season. There won’t be a postseason ban or scholarship reductions for the program.

The N.C. State program will have the following penalties:
-A $5,000 fine.
-For the 2022-23 academic year or first available opportunity, a reduction in total number of grant-in-aid awards by one men’s basketball scholarships.
-One-year probation.
-A one-year show-cause for Gottfried.
-A six-year show-cause for Early.
-Vacate wins from 2016-17 season.

N.C. State basketball will have to vacate wins, pay a fine and more after NCAA ruling

Here comes Lester to tell us the hammer is coming. Wade will get a show cause and never coach another game at LSU…. He’s been banking on it for three years now.

They accepted money from the Addias Rep and funneled the money to a player. It was like 40K. I want to say the Assistant admitted to it and there was a solid paper trail.

N.C. State’s case revolves around former guard Dennis Smith Jr., former head coach Mark Gottfried and former assistant Orlando Early. The investigation involves former Adidas consultant Thomas Gassnola working with Early, an assistant under Gottfried from 2011 to ‘17, and Smith’s trainer Shawn Farmer to funnel $40,000 to Smith’s family in exchange for Smith’s commitment in October 2015.

Created in August 2019, the IARP set up a panel of independent investigators to review complex NCAA Division I infractions cases. It came about after a recommendation from the Commission on College Basketball, chaired by former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

If it's that low what's the point?

They are handling our case differently. They are combining g the football infractions with the basketball. They are accusing wade of giving impermissible benefits of up to 11 players. The football team already took ateps to address the issues last season. Forego bowl, etc.

The NCAA hasn’t accused Wade of shite. The report was that the NCAA has received information indicating that Wade offered up to 11 recruits impermissible benefits and was investigating.

Aka either one or multiple rival coaches tattled to the NCAA. If they had further proof beyond that they would’ve moved forward already and wouldn’t still be investigating

Guaranteed they have no paper trail or it would have been announced already.

Exactly why I know they don’t have shite on Will Wade. If the basketball case was big enough it would be its own.

Kansas received level 1 allegations and gave their coach a raise and lifetime contract. The NCAA can’t enforce harsh violations for one school without enforcing for all.

The schools requested the IARP, not the other way around. They basically state that the schools can’t appeal the decision from IARP, when they were able to with the NCAA. Schools felt the NCAA could unilaterally make any decision they wanted. That’s what has been the issue with uneven penalties throughout the years with bigger programs getting lighter punishments.

This is a positive decision for other schools in the IARP process as that doesn’t seem like too harsh of a penalty, especially looking at how Oklahoma State was handed a postseason ban for less money.
