I know there's like a <5% chance of that happening, but if his draft grade isn't to his liking, he hasn't done anything to forfeit his remaining eligibility has he?

I'm still kind of foggy on the new rules, I know he hired an agent, but you can do that now, correct?

Everyone could still return, Naz will not; Waters very very unlikely he will not

There was an article in The Baton Rouge Advocate yesterday I believe. This was my biggest takeaway from the article......
quote:

Under the NCAA’s new rules, a player who doesn’t request an evaluation and puts his name in the draft automatically gives up his eligibility.

“That’s the first step: requesting an evaluation,” Jakoubek explained. “No matter what you do, you must be evaluated to retain your eligibility.

LSU interim coach Tony Benford told The Advocate last week that Reid and Waters had not requested an evaluation.

LINK

I'm reading this as Waters anf Reid cannot come back under the new rules.

He could return but generally players who are closed to guaranteed to be drafted stay in the draft when they declare. Tremont has much more reason to come back since he will not be getting drafted at all. And contrary to popular belief he could still improve his draft stock with a great season. And by great I mean 20+ PPG 6-7+ APG 2 SPG. All-American type season.

I thought Waters couldn't because you can only go to the combine and come back once.

I don’t think Naz is taking classes though. Accept it, he’s gone.

It’s closer to 50/50 actually. Late first round might not be what he wants to hear but it’s the best he is gonna hear.

Pretty sure Naz isn't even in BR anymore. His days here are done.

Not sure why Sir Fury was downvoted by 3 people, you’re absolutley right. It just shows a lot of people have no idea about the actual rules in place for this stuff are.

You can talk to an agent and come back. But if you take money from an agent or hire that agent you are gone..

No, new rule: you can come back if you want, unlike football.

He's gone. All most of these kids want is the nba, where they can play ball, make money, and smoke pot to their heart's content.

If that was the case, neither would be enrolled right now more than likely, and both are according to insider.

This is in the article I linked from The Advocate...
quote:

The agents, who must be certified by the National Basketball Players Association, can arrange for individual workouts with NBA teams and even pay for travel, lodging and meals for early applicants and their family members.

Any other expense incurred during the process, like having the agent pay for a personal trainer or nutritionist, would render the player ineligible.

As I understand it, Waters is the only one gone for sure (meaning- he CAN'T) come back. It's because this is his second time doing it.

Someone commented that anyone not requesting an eval would be gone automatically; I would think that's a simple checkbox that is already checked on every early applicant in advance, and they probably have to very specifically say they DON'T want the eval, in something like 10 different spots. Otherwise, there is too much room for error. A guy like Emmitt Williams might accidently blow his eligibility by missing a box, when he's obviously not intending to declare for real.

As for those not on campus- it's Spring Break. You can leave for a week, you can even pack up all your bags. If you haven't withdrawn formally, you can come back next week.
We've already passed the drop date.
