It’s as close to a “One Of Us” narrative like in 2016. Sad how low Ed has brought expectations.
Dude is from Tennessee and went to college at Furman. Never coached in Louisiana until he took the Louisiana job.
Does him coaching the Cajuns really freak you out that much?

The insane pushback on the mere suggestion of Napier is super sketch. I’m not a conspiracy theorist but it’s incredibly strange both how frequent it is and how angry the anti-Napier folks are.

I get people being sick of the "one of us" narrative, and I'm not saying Napier is who we should get (trusting Woodward to get his right), but this isn't even remotely the same situation.

Napier has been good and CONSISTENT at a program that hasn't been very much of either in its (D-1) history. LSU had hired 3 different HCs over the last 20 or so years. The first was a guy who won a the conference at a small school, then went to the NFL as a DC, only to then go to the Big 10 and finish most years just barely above .500 (unitl his final season). In fact, one of his loses was a bowl game arse kicking by LSU. The second guy had decent success in the Big 12, but nothing remarkable other than a couple of unexpected upsets over a top ranked Oklahoma team. The third guy had ZERO prior success as a HC and was on NO ONE's radar when LSU hired him. All three won national championships.
You could make the argument Napier is almost or just as qualified as those guys when they were hired by LSU. That said, LSU's current AD is a guy who looks for coaches with big name recognition because of a long history of MAJOR conf. success when making a hire. Chris Petersen, Jimbo Fisher, Buzz Williams, Kim Mulkey, Jay Johnson. All coaches who had a long track record of success (Yes, Petersen was a Boise...but he was dominant and Boise and beat several P5 teams during that time).
Thus, while Napier (because of his success in SW La) might be a fan favorite (for some) He's not on LSU's potential list of candidates now. And really, the ONLY reason he is a fan favorite is because of proximity. If he were doing this at Georgia St, or Akron, or Buffalo, you would rarely hear his name on here. IMO, hiring him would be, once again, falling into the trap of wanting a "local guy" similar to Johnny Jones or Ed Orgeron.
If big name after big name turn LSU down then MAYBE the turn to Napier. But he is MUCH higher or the fans list of coaches than LSU's list

Where did Napier get multiple sec offers? Link He maybe interviewed with auburn and South Carolina
It’s common knowledge he was front runner for both jobs and will be for Miss State when Leach is fired. No use discussing Napier with you after acting like a gaping vag in your last thread. You got pummeled in it with facts and kept moving the goalposts. No one is linking shite for you, when you showed how stupid you were in your OP. I don’t think Napier is a top 3 pick for Woodward but your obsession with him is pathetic.

I think those who want Napier actually understand what he's accomplished at UL. If you take off your purple glasses and at look at UL as a program instead of little brother down I-10, you can see what he's done with that program. He took a team that had NEVER won 10 games and did it in back to back seasons and if probably going to do it again. He's got the smallest recruiting pool in the Sun Belt with all the major programs picking the best kids out of Louisiana, and still puts together good classes relative to the school. He then takes those less talented team and beats teams with more talent, consistently. That's why people think he would be a great coach. He turned a hood rat program into one of the best in the G5.
All that said, he may not be the dude. I think he'd do fantastic at LSU and I believe he'll win a natty somewhere before it's all said and done.
I like Fleck too. Wish LSU wouldn't taken him instead of chasing Herman.

I am not going to argue for or against Napier. I think they should interview him if he is interested, but should the hired him? I have no clue, but I will say this. Napier is far more qualified for this Job than Orgeron ever was.

Because if he wasn’t coaching at ULL one hour down the road most people on here wouldn’t even know he existed.
Replace ULL with Texas State or Georgia Southern and these topics wouldn’t be a thing.
Well he's supposedly gotten multiple SEC offers in the past couple years that he's turned down. He isn't some new fangled interest.
The "one of us" thing could also be applied to Smart, but to the extreme. No head coaching experience, and a former player at UGA. I would say that has been a successful hire for them.
Unlike 0, he's not a complete moron with no core competencies outside of recruiting, and he has proven that he is a program builder, even at a smaller scale.

I love it when the Napier threads go like this shut down like LSU's run game in 2021
Read on dumbass
I listed 4 issues with that
Not that ISU was horrible at the start of the season. Should have been 0-2 but lucked out against Northern Iowa in OT.
Go look and dig
They were not the same and 2020 was a shite year anyway for the big 12. They might have well been the Conf USA for the good teams there.
Y’all all told me 2020 didn’t count… what happened to that?

Your question was
quote:
Who EXACTLY has Napier beat that was a P5 in a major conference that was either first or second in that conference
And he gave you an answer that satisfied exactly that criteria. Don't try to squirm away with extra (bullshite) criteria now that you were proven wrong.
