Interesting that Nabers was #19 WR on 247 and 150 overall. MHJr was #21 and 160 overall. Egbuku was 1, our Chris Hilton was 5, Deion Smith 8 and BTJ 9. Class of 2020 had Julian Fleming #1 WR and 4 overall and he has been hugely underwhelming. Interesting how rankings out of high school are least determinative with receivers. (not to mention, Justin Jefferson). Wonder why that is?

I remember we flipped Nabers from Moo State on signing day.

Thank God.

Volume, unlike defensive or offensive linemen. There are a lot of athletic dudes playing high school football.

Hard to predict who will make the transition.

It took the assistants on LSU’s staff a lot to convince Coach O to offer him.

And we offered Jack Bech before we offered Malik.

If I recall Nabers missed a lot of games in HS (can't remember if it was a school transfer issue or injury) that limited his exposure and stats.

He didn't play football his senior year of highschool because of transfer rules.

That WR class was insane.

Nabers
Thomas
Smith
Hilton
Bech

What's crazy is Smith may be the most talented out of all of them. Hate that Lane got him for next year.

You got track guys in high school that play wr but run nothing but streaks and post routes with elite speed but have zero change of direction or quickness and really struggle running good routes and getting open at the college level.

That summer, Bech, and the others were getting all the attention. Rohan went to practice and came away saying Nabers was the one that was going to be the breakout superstar of that class.

Possibly, but think about who was making personnel decisions when he was here. Would it be surprising O would sit a future Billitnecoff winner behind someone?
