You will be disappointed when Napier is hired. Very few if any on that list are obtainable. Haven’t you seen the previous coaching searches? We start with Gruden, Bill cowher, and Nick saban, then we gradually lower our expectations to the point we will hire the next guy that walks in the room......and there he is, the dline coach was just refilling his coffee cup and gets offered the job on the spot.

Meyer is a basket case
Who TF cares??? Meyer was at Ohio St for 6 years and they were elite. If we can get him for 6 years, that's at least 2 championships with this Louisiana talent.

Kiffin failed miserably at his shots at 2 major programs
LSU is not Tennessee or USC. LSU is a place where a previously decent Oklahoma St coach racked up 114 wins to only 34 losses, 3 division titles, 2 conference titles, 2 NationalChampionship appearances, and a national Championship win, with almost no passing game for the majority of his tenure. LSU is a place where a HC that was extremely awful in his only full HC gig in the SEC, wins a national championship (completing the greatest season of all time), in his 3rd year. I don'tknow enough to say how hot of a get Saban was at the time, but I know Miles and O were not golden tickets.
quote:

Mullen and Franklin are vastly overrated (have never won even a conference title)

Again, this stupidity astounds me. Neither of our championship winning coaches this century won conference titles before they came to LSU. LSU has had 3 coaches since 2000. People want to hate on Tom Herman, but Tom Herman and Dave Aranda at DC would have won multiple national championships before Dave left. Dan Mullen, with his QB coaching and emphasis on offense and defense would have had LSU humming. He is the coach I wanted after 2015 when they should have fired Miles. Franklin is damn good too. The resources he would have at LSU, I could see a Dabo Swinney type of glow up.

I would be happy with any of those guys and know they would produce better than O, but my favorite "realistically" is Fickell. I'd take Peterson, and Meyer is an heart beat, but realistically, Fickell.

Thoughts on Eric Bieniemi from KC, if he would take a college HC?

What is the effing obsession with James Franklin, what the frick has he ever won???

Here is a clue, the word is NOTHING

If by “nothing”, you mean taking a 2-10 SEC program to a top 20 finish in just 2 years, I agree with you. He’s also on track to win 11 games at PSU again this year for the 4th time in 5 years not including the COVID shortened season. I believe that only Saban, Smart, Riley and Swinney can make that claim.

How about we start with Fickell

Stop with this. The guy hasn’t done anything spectacular.
Beating Notre Dame is irrelevant. They’re a media darling every year.

Why is Fickell and Freeze unrealistic? Freeze might be a no from LSU because of his past, but Freeze would run to get here. You think Fickell would say no? I don't think Meyer is unrealistic, but I don't think he wants to come here with Saban in the same conference, let alone the same division. I don't think Mullen will leave FLA or Sark (not interested) will leave Texas. Saban is unrealistic. I think Kiffin might leave Ole Miss. Shaw is not leaving Stanford. I don't see Cristobal leaving Oregon. He could own the PAC-12. I am not interested in Franklin and doubt he leave Penn St.

Then why are they not humming at Florida? He lost to Ed Orgeron in 2020 with UF's best team in a decade.

Based on what in his career?

Tom Herman and Dave Aranda at DC would have won multiple national championships

Never mind. I see what I'm dealing with.

Well the 2 most likely are Napier and Aranda and I’d be willing to put money on it.

Bill O’Brien is being mentioned enough. He was a successful coach at Penn State

2 years at 15-9 nearly 10 years ago. Not sure why LSU can’t do better than this. Sanctions or not that is still a whole lot of meh, IMO.

I also don’t care about NFL coaching at the college level. Also rather not a coach under Saban. They sure can’t seem to beat him.

I would love Freeze, but they say no chance because LSU won’t hire him. Not because he wouldn’t run here.

I also don’t think Meyer is as unrealistic as some are think. At least try. People don’t like him, so they don’t want him. I don’t like him or Saban, but I’d like to win.

He’s an a-hole, that’s why he keeps getting passed over in the NFL. Very angry and unhinged temper supposedly.
