This is dumb.
Alleva is a dumbass, but he's smart enough to know this--if he ever wrecked LSU football, he'd lose his job, which is about to happen.
He was dumb enough to think that O would win big and with the Cajun accent too.
But even Joe Alleva is not stupid enough to think you can purposely wreck LSU football and survive.

you obviously put a lot of time in on this post. sorry to say but i'm not buyin' it. basketball will never overtake football as the #1 sport at LSU and efforts to do that would truly be insane.

No worries. I am not bothered that the majority of people here do not buy into my theory. I am not sure if there is any truth to it at all, just speculation on my part. I simply can't wrap my head around the decisions Alleva is making, so I'm trying to somehow justify it, or put myself in his shoes.
And it doesn't mean basketball replaces football as #1 entirely - and permanently, by the way. We can shift focus temporarily, and make a more concerted effort to winning in basketball short term, then move back to football when we feel the opportunity to win again arises. Hopefully by that point, Wade has established us as a perennial sweet 16 team and contender for championships.
I think people need to realize that we have a very sensitive budget, maybe more-so than our rival colleges. That gives us less flexibility in where we spend money. Yes, our football team brings in a ton of revenue, and will continue to do so, even with Coach Orgeron. I think that's what Alleva sees, so he's looking to boost our revenue and profit elsewhere (basketball), while maintaining football revenue.

If you start with an idiotic conspiracy, that devalues the overall brand, that produces far less money for the AD, and that is far more likely to fail than succeed, you should expect to get flamed.
The fact that you think Joe Alleva has the ability to pull of any such feat shows how out of touch you are.
