I don’t have any inside information but it seems we have an unusual number of players held out of practice than in years past. I’m wondering if O is holding them out of the media portion but then having them practice in the closed sessions. The reason being simply a misinformation campaign to keep our opponents unsure of what’s happening. We know teams scout one another to glean useful information so maybe O is feeding them injuries that really don’t exist.

That’s absolutely not what is happening.

He wants a healthy team for week 2. Simple as that

I’d love to know that this is correct, but probably not. most likely beibg overly cautious, but I’d prefer overly cautious than having multiple injuries. it does make me wonder how good of shape these guys are in when they aren’t practicing, though. it could be good for how much longer our guys will last through the season because they aren’t wearing down their bodies now, or it could do the opposite by not keeping them in shape. I guess we’ll see

Miles used to close practice after about a week and the first year of O he closed practice. The last two years is the only years where the media has had this much practice availability so basically we are hearing a high number than normal because previously we didn’t know.

LOL.. so your theory is O is trying to trick GA Southern in to letting their guard down and think all of our good players are out ?.. do you realize how ridiculous that sounds, if he has to result to that we are in for a LONG season ... we play GA Sou first not Alabama

I get the impression these large number of practice hold outs are directly related to an increased focus on recovery for the players. LSU football seems to be priding itself as one of the pioneers of this movement with the amount of research and technology that’s been referenced in some of these articles around the opening of this renovated facility with the emphasis on sleep quality and nutrition amongst other things. Jack and Shelly have always been top notch, and the fact LSU has retained them for so long is pretty special. I guess/assume some of the data we have now suggests the additional practice reps for guys suffering from minor aches and pains isn’t worth it in the long run. Whether it’s based on preventing a bigger injury, or simply having them perform at a higher level later in the season, I don’t know. But there has to be something they’ve figured out recently. I think it’s really cool actually. Fans will get used to this and learn to chill out with the practice reports. If any of these injuries is serious, word will get out.

I doubt that's what's happening, but I would totally do that if I were coach. Georgia Southern would be surprised as frick!
