I agree. I would have like to see both Magee and Hilliard behind the white OL and also Jennings bc he tooks some hits and was also pressure all afternoon. It would be interesting to see him with a little more time. Rivers escaped the pockets twice instead of stepping up in it.

Fanaika was the only o-lineman on the purple team that looked remotely capable.

Yep. That's a strong MFer. Imagine Fanaika, Collins, Turner, Alexander, and Williford lined up next to each other this year

Did anyone notice Kavahra Holmes? If he is the 3rd string CB, I am very pleased. He had at least 2 pass breakups in the 1st against Odell.

Interesting...I wanted to know how he performed as well. So I guess Kavahra Holmes was covering Odell most of the game?

1. First of all, I was extremely impressed with Jennings. He has a very quick release and also obviously has some wheels. I could tell he wants to throw first and runs when necessary. He doesn't spook easily into taking off. Very excited for this kids future ad expect him to take the reigns come 2014.

I commented on this earlier and said I too was somewhat impressed. Now the stats are out and we can let the numbers speak

AJ10
rush 7 - 26 yds
pass 8/21/0 98 yds

Mett
rush 2 - -4 yds
pass 12/19/0 236 yds

Rivers
rush 1 - -12 yds
pass 7/10/0 185 yds

Now take in mind that Jennings played more than anybody today. All of first half and some of second half. So if all you saw of this was the numbers how impressed are you now?

well going on stats alone wont tell you anything in a spring game.

Mett and Rivers had first team Oline, Odell, Jarvis, and Dural and played against walk ons and back ups in the secondary and a Dline that is pitiful beyond the first stringers.

Jennings had second team Oline only and didn't even have Vadal because he was out. Played against the first team secondary, first team backers and first team Dline that consisted of two monsters in the interior.

Mett is in his fourth year and Rivers his third. Jennings should technically still be going to high school. The fact that from what we hear of him being at least that good basically being a high school senior against a experienced college secondary speaks volumes.

Of course he will need to get better but from all acounts, he will have no problem doing that once fall hits and the season starts. I believe he earns the starting position next year after taking over the backup position later on this year.

I agree. I even said in my earlier posts that he impressed me as well. I was just surprised to see his poor stat line. Best performance I ever saw for zero points and <125 yds of offense. I also agree he had the short end on the receivers today.

Watching Jennings was really great. In time he will be a star. He isn't ready for the SEC yet but when he is! We are in good hands.

Good to hear. I was wondering how he would transition from WR to CB.

Jennings: First thing I want to say about Jennings is everyone should know that this kid should still be a senior in high school and was playing against our first team defense.

Right, Jennings should be getting ready for his high prom, but he's competing damn well for playing time against guys going into their 3rd or 4th years of college football.

AJ running #2 already I find to be startling.

Due to injury? Perhaps.

But if I had to put LSU's offense in the hands of a true freshman, I feel as okay as I did with Herb Tyler.

Can anyone report on the second string DL? Quentin Thomas or Mickey Johnson? I am assuming that they didn't look good since it seems there are multiple comments saying the second string D was a big dropoff from the first. I was hoping that Quentin Thomas would be a nice surprise this year but haven't heard anything promising but not much negative either.

Love to hear the good reports about Kwon and thought he was looking really impressive before the injury last year against Florida

I heard the true fresh Ethan Pocic looked good at center even though his natural postiton is tackle.
