My last game in TS was a disappointing performance against ND after witnesses the goal posts being yanked out the ground against #1 Florida weeks earlier.

I'm back in Louisiana to support my family with my grandfather declining health. He took me to the UWashington back in 84 and countless other games when I had hair and less of a beer belly. My love of LSU started with him and it led me to eventually graduating from LSU. (I lived through the Hallman years)

In his spirit, I got a single ticket for this Saturday with full faith that it never rains in TS. I'll be rooting hard for the Tigers but I'll be spending considerable time enjoying the memories and taking the experience of Tiger Stadium despite the reduced the numbers. I've not even seen the enclosed south end zone in person yet!

Any encouragement or suggestions appreciated.

First game in Tiger Stadium was the week after the Florida win and against Ole Miss. 36-21 the Tigers lost. I was 5 years old and chose a 3 1/2 hour drive to the game and back instead of going trick-or-treating. Enjoy being back!

So excited for you. Of course, no bags in TS now, unless they're clear. I'm pretty sure no cash is being accepted now. Bring a good poncho and something warm (maybe keep a beenie and some extra socks dry) because it that wet-cold coming off the Mississippi is so freaking cold.

My first date with my OM wife. I left her in the stands while she was doing Slow Dixie dance. Thankfully, I met up with her outside the stadium again.

She has since been converted.

Enjoy the game and memories of your Grandfather. My Dad took me to my first game to the 1967 Sugar Bowl in Tulane Stadium. Was cold and raining. I was 6. What I still remember is the Golden Girls. Damn were they fine. We beat Wyoming. That was my first taste of the Tigers.

shite like this is what makes our fanbase so special. My advice: take it all in. Take pictures if that’s how you feel, but take it all in regardless. Get out there early and walk around, go to Alex Box, Mike’s, P-Mac, go spend a buncha money in the gift shop to offset for Pelini’s buyout, etc.

Welcome back! As others suggest, bring a poncho. The stadium looks much different than the last time you were there. Take a walk around the outside. Be sure and visit Mike...his “cage” is vastly upgraded as well. I wish your family well. Try to get back when things return to normal, whatever that is.

Awesome story! I grew up in a huge Ole Miss family. First game I ever attended was the year prior and LSU won. Told my dad I would be for LSU next time and he said no!! Hard headed 4 year old kid trying to prove a point and I haven’t looked back!! In 97 I walked out of Tiger Stadium crying due to the loss but still a Tiger!

Can’t do anything about the hair, but why do you have a beer belly, and why do you seem somewhat proud of it?

I'm actually pretty fit for a 48 year old. Still run and play basketball. I was trying to be a little self deprecating. ??
