I agree that if you can run effectively on us you've already won. I think we're going to take that away from you.

You've got it completely backwards. If LSU runs it but has trouble throwing it Iowa has a legit shot.

But if you are sitting there in the first quarter and LSU is throwing the ball around, you are dead...and it will be ugly.

The question is Jennings. I'd say the most likely scenario is that Jennings plays just ok an this ends up being a close game.

Iowa can't win if LSU's offense is rolling.

I see Iowa winning 24-13 or 33-23. A greater spread wouldn't surprise me in the least,

Hahahahaha

I know I'm late to the thread, just wanted to get that off my chest.

Nobody knows what Jennings is going to do. He could throw four TDs or he could throw four picks.

You are absolutely right. There is reason for optimism, but Jennings being so inexperienced is a realistic concern for LSU and could be the difference in the game.

What I do know is that Mettenberger pretty much made your season, so my game prediction goes from a pick 'em to advantage Iowa by about 10 points

You are so far off from reality here it's funny. Your starting point is very, very wrong. Consider that LSU, with a QB who has played about 6 meaningful minutes of football, is STILL a 7.5 point favorite.

That means LSU was probably a 13-14 point favorite with Mettenberger. I'm not sure why you aren't able to recognize this.

Backing your team is one thing. Distorting the consensus view of independent oddsmakers is laughably delusional.

Your entire hope in this game needs to be based on LSU struggling due to Jennings. If he plays well, Iowa is dead.

To make a case for Iowa against LSU at full strength would be to make a case that Iowa is a legit top 10 team. Nobody thinks that.

I do too which is why I think it is going to be a close game.

Yes. The standard for trash talking is beating fricking Iowa.

What fricking world do you live in?

8-4 big ten team whose shining achievement was a beatdown of Nebraska is ousted by a 6-6 Cuse squad...nice.

I think we'll come out in our typical deep zone rather than trying to play man coverage. This often does a good job of limiting big plays. We do usually tackle well after the catch...

This may have been said in the previous 23 pages that I'm not about to read, but if you sit back in a deep zone, you can't stop our running game. If you stack the box and try to single (or even double) cover OBJ and Landry, you will get gashed by them. Y'all will put 8 in the box, have man coverage on OBJ and Landry, and have a safety on the strong side of the field and pray that Jennings doesn't show out. That's your only hope.

You are talking about Jordan Jefferson genius . What does he have to do with this year? LSU historically is way better than Iowa . Talk about our past offenses all you want , those shitty offenses got us into way better bowls than Iowa has ever been in

If by this you mean since the year 2002, then yes you are correct. Let's look back to 1980-
Iowa 25 bowl appearances including this year
LSU 21 bowl appearances including this year.

The only advantage I see is your BCS title and Sugar bowls before the BCS. LSU historically better than Iowa? No. In the last 13 years? Yes.

You conveniently picked a look back period that serves your interest. But football tradition goes much further back than 1980. I think 3 National Championships and other major bowl appearances prior to 1980 (and of course the BCS games) reveal a complete picture that most in the college football world would agree that LSU's is the greater tradition of winning.

Iowa has been playing college football longer than LSU (only 4 years though)

LSU has 750 wins, 45 bowl appearances, 3 Championships.

Iowa has 600 wins, 26 bowl appearances.

Your argument is invalid.

Iowa' s best year was a number 2 finish in the 1958 season when we won our first Championship.

Up until about 20 years ago SEC schools only played about 5 or 6 conference games. So you got a lot of wins against Furman, LATech, Tulane, etc. Congrats.

Iowa, can't boast much, for about 20 years Iowa did not have a winning record.

I gotta give some of you guys credit for being this confident about a pretty average football team, That's better than some LSU fans wanting to blow up tiger stadium after a 10-2 year.

Iowa is only 100 wins better than Tulane. and Iowa didn't have to play SEC caliber teams every year.
