I like your optimism OP. So I didn't downvote. But the above quote kept me from upvoting.

Man this defense with and when Arden Key returns got me so excited. I think our linebackers will be dominant and my breakout player pick is John Battle. I think he ball out his last year and be a sleeper pick in the NFL draft.

A lot of talent.. and we have a qb. No he isn't a great qb but almost all qbs progress a lot after a full year starting and a few years in the program. Etling has started a lot of games. He's one of those kids whose smart won't make mistakes and now he's healthier. That experience is almost absolutely necessary at qb most of the time. Several coaches at media day mentioned that as the first reason why the sec will be stronger when asked about the sec being "down" last year. And that's all the qbs returning n Sec.

Well our last coach couldn't win after Bama loss. It deflated him and the team so badly. O and last years team bounced back after several tough losses and got wins.. can't help if arky wasn't as good. It was on the road and that hadn't happen a lot at arky recently.

what? we lost to a 14 point underdog that was missing tons of defensive starters AFTER THE bama game.

sounds a lot like the previous regime.

then don't tout beating a far weaker arky team in 2016 as proof O did something miles couldnt.
You can't say O at least had his team ready to play against Arky and not take into account that arky had an elite run defense 2015 but it was dog shite this past season.

To many wholes in the roster, not enough depth, still no qb.
TOO many HOLES.

Not enough depth at Offensive Line. (Not enough SEC quality starters either)

TF's Deculus and Stewart need to step up in Fall Camp and earn starting spots. (A la TF Jonathon Williams at Alabama)

Etling will be the most improved player on the team and the SEC. (Brennan will be the next Jones/Hodson and get playing time)

McMillan/Scott will do the Roomate Switch or say Adios Amigo to another school.

I was underwhelmed with Orgeron's coaching in the AL and FL games. And the new offense mentality (albeit pre-Canada) was no different in the bama game. It's when a team loses and the coach is not pissed off, doesn't show the "want" to amend those losses. Ironic that Myles used that word so much. I didn't see much reaction out of O either in his losses last year; no sense of missed opportunities.

And whereas the baseball team had a good season, I hope football exceeds the accomplishments of the baseball team. Seriously.

I don't think anyone is pulling against O, they are just being a fricking realist about this hire. On paper this is a worse hire than curly hallman , just think about that for a little bit. The only reason there is excitement from some of the fans about the hire is because where the man is from! Think about how ridiculous that is for a minute.

50 days left. This is when it gets brutal. Hype videos start playing and the days get longer as I start counting down like kids do for christmas.

... And I just had an idea. Advent calendar counting down to football. A different drink in each slot.

He's from the place that was able to extend Dave Aranda and hire the only Broyles Award candidate on offense as the OC. Yeah, so why not.

Retaining Aranda and hiring Canada was great but how long do you think a program can sustain two top coordinators simultaneously year after year?

This is the least excited i've been for LSU football in a while. And your post has a lot to do with it. I have so little confidence in O, it has left me impartial at this point.

With that said, i'll still be at/watch every game, stand 3 feet in front of the TV pacing, scare the dogs and kids by screaming so much, etc.

Tiger Ree is about to post his spreadsheet of Pro-O talking points fed to him by Fat Goebbels and this thread is about to go 100 pages

With what LSU pays its coordinators, a VERY LONG time.

O will probably have Broyles Award candidates on BOTH sides of the ball in the future.

This team could be really special idk what your seeing. Only depth issues I see are at WR. RBs will be fine, OL if we have injuries could be an issue but that's with any team. The defense is stacked with talent. I don't think we lose much there with or without Key. If you watch the front last year we had multiple guys surrounding the QB when Key got to the QB, he was just the fastest to get there. The DL will be the best we've seen in a long time, we all know what a DL can do for the secondary. Plus we have the best in the business calling the defense, he will find multiple ways to get to the QB.

Our QB is feeling his best he has in 2 years. He should perform slightly better which is all we need. My only concern is at WR but if we can get those guys to step up its going to be a great year. Canada can also find other ways to get the ball down field if they don't step up. We have plenty of TEs or H backs to get the ball to. We have good RBs to catch balls and his entire offense is built to fool the defense and get guys wide open so it's not like our WRs will HAVE to fight off great DBs at all times. Run the play get a man open and score points. This isn't Les Miles team anymore and people seem to forget this fact.

Add the fact that O wants to be more aggressive on ST which could result in more easy points. LSU being offensive in all phases could have many more positive results. Putting immense pressure on opposing teams causes mistakes that LSU can take advantage of. Teams coming in here not expecting this type of LSU game could get run out of the stadium, starting with BYU. These teams better be ready for a different LSU team in 2017/18!!! HTT

This 2017 LSU Football team is picked to finish 3th in the SEC West. Because LSU QB Danny Etling is not good enough to merit any pick higher.

I think people got so used to les mIles LSU football teams that they can't comprehend any other way right now. I expect to see a dangerous lsu football team that finally uses its talent to the max and lives up to its potential finally after so long. I truly believe LSU is going to look completely different in a good way and have opposing teams wondering what team this is bc it sure isn't the boring offense like in years past. We are going to surprise some people this year, idk how with all of the talent we have, but we are being overlooked by everyone pretty much and even some of our own fans. Geaux tigers, whip some arse.
