Multiple Times Mason Taylor open...

Against Arky he could have gone straight down the field uncovered from his TE position... Depending on formation, sometimes the safety had him... sometimes they floated a safety back over off the double wides... but multiple times he was not covered by a LB or a Safety. I know we have a run down the middle of the field and throw it to the TE pattern because we have thrown it....
Just an observation.

I was shocked we didn’t get him a couple high percentage looks early. Denbrock was anywhere but in his bag on Saturday.

It doesn't matter what Denbrock calls if #5 WON'T THROW THE DAMN BALL

Saturday was so weird. The fakes, the play calling. It was like we reverted back to a month and a half ago. A win is a win but I was very confused.

Nothing is more frustrating than our fans going back to 1 or 2 plays to point out an open wr that our qb missed.
You do know that Josh Allen, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, etc do the same damn thing every Sunday?

Was Taylor targeted any that game?

Probably because the routes take way too long to release the WR into space. Yes JD holds onto it too long sometimes but some of the calls on Saturday were terrible. That little 2 point conversion play would’ve been a great drive starting play on multiple occasions.

You do know that is not what I was doing... but thanks.
My point is that the pattern was there and not noticed or called the whole game. As one poster commented... we targeted Taylor maybe once in the whole game. TE down the seam needs to be run just to see who runs with him.

I just don't understand why they don't dust off the 2019 playbook, which was a read option based system, and run those plays. We have NFL wide receivers and actually a better TE than in 2019. And we had guys running open all the time.
Plus Williams is probably as good as CEH. Sure we don't have Burrow, but Daniels seem fully capable of throwing the 50/50 ball like Burrow, as he's done it already this year. He's also a bigger threat in the read option than Burrow.

I get it. Let me offer this observation. I was there. It was really cold. Don't let the fact that the sun was out fool you. It didn't look that cold on TV. Both of the first quarter turnovers were the result of a cold, hard, slick football. Emery fumbled twice. Neighbors and Jenkins each had a drop. I think the two early turnovers changed the way Denbrock called the game. Until these guys sign NFL contracts, that was the coldest game any of these guys have played in or will play in by probably 20 degrees.

Maybe...
Denbrock was the one with the flu...

He holds onto the ball too long all the time. Denbrock can't force him to throw the ball. Does he deserve some blame? Sure. Afterall he is the OC. Players are open. Throw more slants and quick passes. Well, he's not very accurate and he's gun shy. We can't run hitch routes for him all game long. Daniels needs to do a better job getting the ball to them. He still does a poor job reading defenses.
This isn't me not supporting Daniels. It's just the truth. He's a big reason we're going to Atlanta. He also has a lot of room for improvement.

Very frustrating that Taylor wasn’t targeted once after that big game against Bama. Inexcusable in my opinion. Don’t care how bad you’re playing at QB, give your best playmakers the targets at least

Yeah Coach D didn’t win any awards with his play calls Saturday that’s for damn sure

Man, dud you just compare JD's ability to find open WR's with Allen, Brady, and Rodgers? You joking right?
JD is very good overall but he struggles with pressure. If he can't run to the outside, he's not likely to be all that productive.
Any team that mush-rushes and keep him in the pocket is definitely going to put this offense in struggle mode. Teams are basically playing us the same way we've played several teams.

Pass for a total of 86 yards?

Looked suspiciously like the FSU game. long developing plays, with no real check-down routes.

JD is still very bad at the intermediate and deep middle
those TE seam routes could be killer with Taylor if we could starting hitting them
