I’m serious. You need to retain most of this class to have a shot at anything next year.

I'm not sure how much anyone outside of the program knows about the changes that SHOULD be made this offseason. We can all do what fans are good at ... fill the world with speculation, rumors, and dreams. Let's get the captain obvious statement out first. Ogeron is NOT an elite coach. But he doesn't need to be. He does need to be an elite GM. No team can continue to go through cycles of restarting. There has to be a much better long term vision for this program and the strategy must stretch beyond the upcoming season. You need a long term strategy for reloading coaches and players. This is how you run a program. Every time we rebuild or restart we fall behind the chains and the truly elite programs. Bama has a long term vision and is prepared so that they just plug the next piece into the program. Coach and the AD have some decisions to make. Do they want one trophy or a cabinet full. If there aren't significant changes not just in the coaches but the overall atmosphere and approach then O is simply going to join the line of one hit wonder coaches at LSU.

The idea that the buck stopped with Verge and Mickey Joseph on the Drake situation is laughable. Whatever Mickey knew, O knew.

Can LSU prove that in court beyond a guy who got burned testifying against him? LSU can’t fire O without paying him some kind of buyout unless they have enough to keep him from suing them for his salary over it. And you can bet your arse he would. We may all know that O knew what was going on, but without real hard evidence backing that up, he will still have to be paid to leave.

I think O knew by the time Mickey knew but that was the last few months. It wasn’t a great response but they suspended him before the season began when the allegation became credible.

We’re not firing O for cause based off anything I’ve seen.

this excuse was used for a decade straight to insulate Miles

and we have no shot at anything next year anyway

He may not get another year because of Title IX. Woodward has basically isolated O and, they are no longer on speaking terms. O’s antics are getting out of control.

Huh...

I love how people get mad at Vol when a recruit changes their mind at that last minute because Vol should be able to control a teenager’s decision making. Vol is right way too often to not know someone in the building.

In his contract, there will be clauses about stuff like this that basically pays him zero. In fact there may be other items that will protect the university.

And if that changes and he is fired because they find evidence that he was involved in the Davis situation, then we’re really fricked. That means we’ve become the next Baylor and the media outcry and actions taken against the university will force a complete program reset. There will be a mass exodus of players and recruits and the staff will be clean swept. No one worth hiring will take the jobs and we will start over from scratch at the bottom of the toughest conference in football.

If O is actually guilty and the program covered this stuff up, then so be it. But I’m not stupid enough to wish for it like some of you idiots are. This scandal is not a magic wand to fix our coaching problems with. It’s a fricking dirty bomb.

Exactly. People want to rip O for this season but a lot of blame should go to the players who opted out and gutted talent and depth. Notice no Bama players opted out.

You're being a bit extreme....Ohio State did just fine when Urban Myers left over an abuse cover up.

What, that they can fire him for free if there are just allegations made? No way that’s the case. Something has to be proven first. Even if there are clauses covering damage to the reputation of the school or something of that nature, they still need to be able to link O directly. Remember when Freeze got fired? It wasn’t because of allegations and rumors. They had phone records. He was fired with cause because they had a smoking gun and he knew he had to accept it and leave if he wanted to return to coaching.

LSU can try, but O will just sue for wrongful termination and get a settlement out of it. There’s no way the school wants anything to do with a trial discovery process featuring a lifetime hard-core recruiter. That would be one hell of a show.

That was with a coach and his wife. That had nothing to do with Title IX. Messing with Title IX is breaking federal law.

My point is that, if the rabbit hole goes deep enough that they find evidence on O being directly involved, then the whole thing probably turns out to be a lot worse. The Baylor scandal started with the media pulling at a few threads and more coming to light. I’m hoping that isn’t the case here, because the pitchforks would come out for LSU the way they did for Baylor.

Who replaces O—-Urban Meyer would keep our recruiting juggernaut rolling. I hate that guy, but he would be the answer (period) Would keep us Playoff bound yearly.
