Jackson only played two years.

While this is true, how many other 2 time first team All Americans has LSU had? He was the best point guard LSU has had with the except of Pistol Pete.

The others played three.

To be fair, only Shaq left early of the other 3. Both Petit and Maravich played freshman Basketball for LSU but were prohibited from varsity competition by NCAA rules.

Pettit, Maravich, Shaq, Jackson are hard to argue against. Simmons may end up being thought of that way but probably not if he exits after 1 year with no playoff run to his name.

How is that a knock? Petit and Pistol had to play all 4 years, if the rules were different back then, neither would have been at LSU all 4 years.

Shaq, CJ, Petit and Pete. NO one ever came close to these four. Chris Jackson was the best college basketball freshman player I have ever seen.

Go with 6 guys, add in Dale and Rudy.

Rudy was an All American, led the team to it's first modern Final Four.

Dale- bitch if you like, but Shaq, CJ (and Rudy) are his players. Dale isn't Bear, Rupp or Wooden, but he's as close as we have. Consider how often LSU basketball made the NCAA's with him, and then look at without him.

THIS

No knock on CJ the LSU player...

But Macklin is 2nd only to Maravich in scoring at LSU and 1st all time in rebounds. Macklin gets too little love and earned his spot with Pistol, Pettit, and Shaq

I saw Cooper and Nattin play and McCreary coach none of those hold a candle to Maravich, Hester, Squak or Brown.

Do you really believe I thought Nattin, Ellis, Maile, and McCreary were the best?????

It was a symbolic, whimsical nomination, bud.

In honor of good times and memories of my Dad taking me to the games at the old Ag Center.

We might have been at some of the same games there.
