Does Green have WR speed?

Call it whatever you want, but he’s not changing positions from TE to WR. If Mason Taylor goes down, it would be him or Pimpton in as backup

We're stacked at WR 5 or 6 deep, depending on health. We were thin this weekend due to injuries, but it’s not like TDG is jumping to the #3 or #4 guy.

Excited to see what they do with him, especially in the red zone

Most DBs are in the 5'-10" to 6'-2" range. TreDez is 6'-7".

This is what it looks like when a 5'-10" athletic corner is trying to guard a 6'-7" athletic WR/TE.

I just think Kelly is like, "WTF? Can we get this guy on the field? No one can guard him. Make some plays for him."

There is another characteristic for WRs to achieve separation from defenders; size.

Remember Megatron? The dude was 6'-5" and ran a 4.35 forty. He was almost impossible to stop. The combination of speed and size made him one of the best in the NFL.

Green obviously has the size.

I'd be running it to his side, or spreading him out to pull a LB outside.

About time. Can’t guard green. 4-5 targets a game. Automatic targets inside 15yd line. Dude was designed for the end zone fade. This is the way.

I honestly think he sticks at WR. He's huge but he is kind of narrow at the hip which would make inline blocking difficult for him.

Watched him last year at Zachary. I said when he committed. He has tge hands of an elite WR in the body of a TE. Kid is humble and going to be a star. He is a freak athlete. He was a great BB player too.

He has three catches this season, 2 are for TD's. I'll take those odds. I like getting him into the offense. He will only get better with playing time.

Last season against aTm, we ran 14 personnel, one RB and 4 TE's. Kelly likes this option. You've seen Bo Bordelon with the #89 jersey, playing the TE position. Kelly and Sloan wants this within their offense. Green will learn to block, look at Taylor now. Everywhere Kelly's been, he's put an emphasis on the position.

In Kelly's short time at ND, he had 8 TE's drafted into the NFL. To find 8 TE's drafted from LSU, you'd have to start in 1990, till present day.

It likely would have resulted in Markum staying
Markway. Mac Markway.

We sure could have used his run blocking from the TE position, since our OL Coach can't teach our Top 5 OL how to run block W A F!

Ok, bud. I also had plenty of people tell me Toviano was the starter at star moving forward

People love to over react here
All it simply takes is listening to the words coming out of BKs mouth. Each time he specifically stated his points. He specifically stated Toviano would be MOVED to star. Never said anything about starting and no way to twist his words as such. This time he directly said that they will HAVE TO move Green to WR. It's already done.

Many of you don't listen with the ears God gave you.

Coach Kelly said they will start using Green as a wide receiver. May not be full time but at least some of the time.
______________

I think it is going to be full-time for the rest of the year. Coach made a comment about keeping it simple for the freshman. Sounded like they don't want him learning 2 positions.

We need the kid on the field, and don't have to take Taylor off to do it. Sweet.

We were thin at WR last weekend.
If CJ Daniels is healthy, does TD Green jump over Zavion Thomas in the rotation? I don’t think so. It’s great to have another weapon at WR, especially in the red zone but he probably jumps to #5 in the WR rotation at best

He pretty clearly did not say he is moving from TE to WR. He said we will see him in more of a WR role
____________

Not the way I heard it. They want Green to focus on one position.

Bc that’s what you want to hear. Same thing how some people wanted to act like Toviano was going to start over Burns.

quote:

all of the complexities of playing the tight end position being eliminated by getting him more in a wide receiver role, I think we're getting to that point where we've made the decision. "That has to happen."

Seems like BK was simply saying they prefer to have him split out wide running routes as opposed to being in a 3 pt stance or blocking LBers.

That hardly means he is jumping up to our #3 WR in the rotation full time. Maybe in red zone packages, he is a weapon in those situations

Where is he now? Nebraska.

2024 (Redshirt)
An LSU transfer, Mac Markway joined the Huskers just prior to Nebraska's first game of the season. He suffered a season-ending injury in September and will utilize his redshirt season in 2024.
