Legal exposure?
Think about what you are saying. If legal precedent is set for this, everyone can sue everyone. Players have opt out rights.

That’s exactly what it is , aka slow roll
If people would of watched the governors body
Language and remarks , they would not be surprised we are not past phase two, same thing with the leftist , come spring it will be the same thing , but with a celebration type remarks , cause they would of won , but still not safe , maybe in the fall
2021

In case you haven’t been paying attention, the left has been trying for years to stop football consider this your wake up call

Second wave expected in Dec-Feb. Will actually be worse then. Football isn’t coming back until there is a vaccine, I’m afraid.
I’m assuming the downvotes are because people don’t want to believe this, but what you said is likely the truth.
I was hoping we’d get some football and basketball, but that seems less likely by the day

Assuming this happens, it seems to me that things will be materially different in February than in September.
So you think that there will be widespread distribution of a brand new vaccine to 350,000,000 people in four months?
Yea, ok.

The downvotes are not because people don’t want to believe it. The downvotes are because that position is nonsensical.

Biden will destroy the energy sector , which drives the world economy , if he listens to the radical left , he will need to borrow 92 TRILLION dollars to implement the lefts new agenda , listen to the science , the science have been wrong on everything, Fauci is an idiot moron

Stop it. You and I both know that this’ll all be over by Christmas if the Ds get back the WH.

This is all a ruse to promise you that they just need a little help and things will be fine after, just like the original "flatten the curve" argument.
It's similar, but neither were/are ruses. It's just a moving consensus regarding a virus, about which we are still learning.
I think that if the season gets moved (I don't think it should) it will still be played in the spring, and here's why. The virus seems to be getting less and less deadly, and some places - New Orleans chief among them - appear to be reaching a low level of herd immunity. I think when the rest of Louisiana, as an example, gets past their first wave the entire state will go to phase three. And I doubt we have much of a recrudescence after that.
I think this will play out across the south and midwest by October. Plans to start football in February will be put in place, and will stay in place unless there is a big winter recrudescence. And there might be, but I doubt it.
I see a championship game in May. Meanwhile California, Oregon and Washington will still be hunkered down in fear.
Remember also, the election will be over, and the media narrative will flip in November.

Once the vaccine gets here and it still doesn’t stop the spread (just like the flu vaccine doesn’t) then it’ll be some other BS.

You should stop posting about this. I know you don't understand why, and no one can understand it for you, so just take my word for it and stop posting about the virus.

No chance at all. Stupid idea.
How dumb can you be to think that there would be a football championship game in May, with a new season starting 2.5 months later?

Holy cow. There are strong opinions on this board, and lot of infectious disease experts. Guess we'll come back to this link at the end of the year to see where things stand.

No. The CDC is pushing to reopen grade schools Right now. There’s no consensus on college football being cancelled. The NFL, for all of its SJW proclivities, remains open.
And lock down until vaccine is NOT an approach being pushed by serious scientific minds.

What information to do you guys have? Have you read this and other similar reports?
You're wasting your time. When pinheads start believing in something, especially conspiracies, there is no quenching it. For 500 years Europeans believed that a Christian African monarch was going to rescue them from the Muslims. They even had a name for him: Prester John. There was not one scintilla of evidence that he existed, but some were ready to die for him.

Looks like Russia just announced they have a vaccine. Time to get one for all of the college athletes.
Posted on 8/11/20 at 7:04 am to Penrod
i posted a literal link from CNN (not exactly a right wing conspiracy outlet) reporting there was no chance a vaccine was ready by early November

thank you i was doing a lot of typing across various boards when i made this thread and i 100% accept my mistake

even if this magical timeline did happen, it will take months to distribute the vaccine itself. if we had it today, it wouldn't be completed prior to winter
Just catching up on the brilliant insights from yesterday. Several of the vaccines are being mass produced in advance of approval. We're likely to have 100 million doses of the Moderna vaccine available for distribution by the end of the year. And we don't need to have vaccinated the entire world for us to be in a materially different position with respect to football in the spring. You could, for example, vaccinate the players and key personnel before the season started.
We'll see where it lands. There are no guarantees here. But you have to ignore the best evidence to say that the chances of having a vaccine by the end of the year are "near 0%." I'm sure you read that Russian has approved a vaccine this morning. Granted, the medical community believes that Russia gave short shrift to accepted testing protocols--I'm certainly not signing up for that vaccine today. But the point is that the world's medical community has invested billions in this effort. We're going to have a vaccine well before the four year prediction from the first page of this thread. That means that there is reason to believe the risk profile will be different in the spring than it is in the fall. No one is saying that COVID will have been wiped from the face of the Earth in February. But risk of transmission, and consequences of an outbreak are way different in a world where there is a vaccine (even if the entire country has not been vaccinated).

The record time for a vaccine is 4 years. It’s unrealistic to expect a quarter of the record amount of time it’s taken
Good thing Nimitz wasn't a pussy.
quote:
A 551-pound armor-piercing bomb had plunged through the flight deck 15 feet inboard of her island and penetrated fifty feet into the ship before exploding above the forward engine room. Six compartments were destroyed, as were the lighting systems on three decks and across 24 frames. The gears controlling the No. 2 elevator were damaged. She had lost her radar and refrigeration system. Near misses by eight bombs had opened seams in her hull from frames 100 to 130 and ruptured the fuel-oil compartments. Rear Adm. Aubrey Fitch, aboard the damaged carrier, estimated that repairing the Yorktown would take ninety days.
quote:
After staring at the burst seams and other damage on the hull, Nimitz turned to the technicians and said, “We must have this ship back in three days.” After a long silence, hull repair expert Lt. Cmdr. H. J. Pfingstag gulped and said, “Yes, sir.”
Ninety days to 3 days is a lot more challenging then 4 years to 6 months.

Don’t be naive. There will be a vaccine, but it won’t be effective. Of course big pharma is suddenly going to promise what science has never been able to achieve when compulsory government vaccinations to the tune of billions of dollars are at stake. And they can do it in 6 months!
