LSU 23, USC 3 1984. 1st year of Arnsparger. USC wasn't chopped liver that year; they won the PAC-10 and beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

This has become almost a game that was never played. There's no YouTube/ BoysFromTheBoot video available of it, there was no TV coverage (not even JP or Tigervision); it's forever overshadowed by LSU's home loss to the Trojans in 1979.

Yes for sure especially what happen in 79; but I do recall watching it on Tigervision or whatever that was available then!
The loss to Troy in 2017?

Iirc, the last drive was a 14 play drive, the first 13 of which were runs, before Miles turned play-action into an actual trick play (lmao) and Jennings threw our only TD of the night to break the Rebel's hearts 10-7.

You’re correct. TD caught Logan Stokes… it was the only catch of his career.

2000 vs Mississippi State. By the team on the field and by the crowd in Tiger Stadium. Low key one of the greatest games in Tiger Stadium history LINK

We've had so many great players over the years. Davis was one of my favorite players to watch. Guy was always clutch.

Was there good W only to L to Gators next week;
A good W I was at TS we played a decent Arizona team I believe was Arnsparger TS debut in 84 after a heartbreak T @ Florida opener. Went back and forth until Tiger took lead 27-26 on H Fonteno TD; and Cats driving last seconds when E Hill forces fumble to salvage the W!
Also, the ranked Washington team in 83 at TS nighttime classic that was biggest crowd at the time obliterated those Huskies! We did not win but maybe 2 games after!

Everything went wrong for LSU vs Ole Miss, 2015:

1. LSU went from 7-0 to 7-2 in just 2 weeks, with a road loss @ Bama which resulted in Gary Danielson badmouthing Fournette and praising Derrick Henry

2. Upset loss (bigly!) to a bad Arkansas team at home

3. Catching Ole Miss on the road, after their bye-week advantage (following an embarrassing loss following a 4th-and-27 to Arky); compounding this by wearing the WRONG UNIFORM (all white; shades of Tenn 2022).

2004 vs Oregon State.

Derek Anderson was an underrated QB playing against a loaded LSU team with a glaring weakness at QB. Young JaMarcus and D Bowe sparked just enough offense to eek out a win.

That Beavers team finished 4th in the PAC 12 but damn near beat Nick Saban and Pete Carol is the same season.

If the Beavers’ Lou Grouza-winning kicker makes just one of 3 extra points, who knows how badly LSU’s 2004 season could’ve ended.

I actually watched that game. I was at my grandparants who had one of those huge satellites that everyone was getting in the early 80s and I found a station out of California broadcasting the game.

Same game Jarvis Landry had his best catch at LSU.

I would say it was the best football catch EVER based on degree of difficulty and fearlessness (he outstretched over the middle where he could have been smoked by a safety)

I’ve alway thought 1976 LSU Nebraska was underrated. Nebraska was pre season number one. 6-6 tie in Tiger Stadium.

Yep. Thanks for mentioning.

Some other oldies but goodies:

'73 Ole Miss: Won 17-16 in '72 and endured a year of slow-clock cheating accusations. But OM instead of getting revenge got blown out of Mississippi Memorial Stadium to the tune of 51-14 (or the like).

'74 vs UTenn: our record vs UTenn is still dismal. But we won in '74 20-10 enroute to a 5-5-! season.

'82 vs UF. Dalton coming out party.

'84 vs OM: DL had lost Barbay vs UF and Thomas vs ND. I think Andolsek moved over from OG and was starting at DL as a true Fr. Jeff Dale had a huge pick-6 late in the 4th.

'93 vs Bama: were like 4-TD underdogs and won. The only highlight of Curley's 4 years of embarrassment, ineptness, and cluelessness.

I got my ticket for $10 while helping my friend park cars off Nicholson. The bar code was ripped off the ticket, so I had no clue whether or not I'd get in, just a lottery ticket. Amazing game.

1972 we beat Auburn 35-7. Auburn finished the season 10-1 including a convincing 24-3 bowl win over No. 13 Colorado. They even beat the Bear and Bama that year. They finished the season ranked No. 5.

We handed them their only loss and as you can see by a convincing margin.

Good pick - I'll take it a step further, if we play McNeese St. that weekend instead of Va Tech we don't win the national title.
