You could have easily dismissed 2008 Utah or 2006 Boise State in the same fashion, but look what those teams accomplished when given a chance to compete on the big BCS stage.

The Mountain West and WAC are not Conf. USA.

1998 Tulane Football: Best Louisiana team ever

You can't disprove that.

1. What trophy did you get?
2. You finished ranked #11, right?
3. What teams did you beat?

Disproved.

At 10:00 in the morning the week before the Florida game. Please don't try to tell me that you honestly believe that your '98 team would beat our national champs. That just makes you sound ridiculous.

1. What trophy did you get?

Liberty Bowl trophy, C-USA title. This misses the real point, though. We were not allowed to compete for anything more, because the BCS is exclusionary and unconstitutional. But I'm not bitter or anything.

2. You finished ranked #11, right?
7th in AP Poll

3. What teams did you beat?

USM, BYU, Louisville.

at the beginning of your posts you said that the 1998 Tulane football team was the Best Ever in Louisiana...and then after people flame you, your opinion changes to...the 1998 team could have competed with your 2007 team. That's all I'm saying

If they were the best ever...then they should have no problem defeating an inferior LSU squad who barely made it to the BCS NC ?

Get outta here

Not accurate. Tulane by finishing in the final regular season BCS top 12 was eligible for a position as a 'BCS at-large' team. The Sugar Bowl,as well as the Orange Bowl passed on the Wave.

Not sure what the rules were back then but Kansas State was #3 in the country and wasn't invited to a BCS game.

They could have though. Because of that ,and Kansas State falling to such a lesser bowl, the Alamo Bowl, teams that finish in the final top 4 of the BCS poll get a BCS bowl.

Florida and Ohio State were the 'at large' teams that season.

You might as well say we didn't win jackshit for 1998 team.

You were left out because you didn't play anyone that was worth a flying phuck. The best team you beat was a 5-loss BYU team.

Wow, I didn't know that our founding fathers who wrote the Constitution had college football in mind back then! Gosh you Tulane folks are so well educated!

Title of thread: "More Tulane Humor".
It's funny because almost everything they talk about has LSU in the equation.

What do you know about "the best" of anything?? You are a toolame fan, and that means you do not even understand how to pronounce the word "best". Go pound sand up your arse, and look at your old memories. Your glory days never were in football, and never will be any time soon. You people should be ashamed to even say you have a football team, other than it gives some poor guys a free education.

Well for starters, we were the BEST football team in the state in 1998 (and '73, '79, '81).

Pound sand...up my arse? No thanks. Oh, and be sure to stay classy.

Tulane didn't play our 4-7 Dinardo coached Tigers that year, so you really can't say that. I think we would have won.
