Didn’t mett transfer in from Georgia? Am I remembering wrong? He wasn’t on the team?

He was on the team. That was the year he did the fake knee against Ole Miss.

I feel like the players from the 2019 game are stars in the NFL now while the 2011 players served more as role players.

I agree 2019 had more starts. 2011 arguably just had 2 and both happened to be on the same team in OBJ and Tyrann. However, I think total NFL players 2011 still takes it overall.

If not start, the boy should have played. When you haven't crossed the 50 yard line in 2 quarters, something needs to change.

More defensive talent in 2011, offensive juggernauts on both sides in 2019!

Mett was on the team and wasn’t redshirting. My take has always been that he should’ve been the plan B in the Championship game. If he didn’t have a good grasp of the offense (I have no idea), then teach him 6-8 pass plays for a change of pace. It would’ve completely surprised Bama.

Bama didn’t change QBs, but they completely changed their game plan for the NCG. They isolated Mathieu in coverage against Norwood who used his size to beat TM consistently. This neutralized TM’s strength, which of course was causing utter mayhem for opposing offenses. The D still played decently well considering the offense’s ineptitude, but they were not as dominant as they had been with TM neutralized and exposed in coverage.

Miles changed nothing and Bama’s talented D shut down everything with ease. LSU could have played 20 more quarters and likely never scored.

2011 Defense major contributors

Defensive Line: Michael Brockers, Sam Montgomery, Bennie Logan, Lavar Edwards, Barkevious Mingo, Kendrick Adams, Josh Downs, Ego Ferguson
Linebackers: Kevin Minter, Lamin Barrow, Tahj Jones,
Cornerbacks: Tyrann Mathieu, Morris Claiborne, Ron Brooks, Tharold Simon,
Safeties: Eric Reid, Craig Loston, Brandon Taylor

LB’s from 2019 were overall better than 2011, but every other position is weaker than 2011 IMO

Miles should have had worked 5-10 passing plays in the game plan for Mettenberger. Very short sided not to have done so.

He handed the game to Saban.

Orgeron had enough WRs to stock several NFL teams.
When Boutte, Nabers, Thomas and Lacy left there was no one left who could reliably catch a pass.
Several, Including Palmer, and Bech, left when Kelly was hired, but made NFL teams.

This is correct. Also, 2019 had way more NFL talent on the field. The 2011 LSU and Bama teams really did not have a lot of NFL stars in retrospect.

2019. The 2011 team was just average on offense; it was all about defense and special teams.

More defensive talent in 2011
I mean based on quantity or quality? Surtain is regarded as the best CB in nfl, Stingley is outstanding, Trevon Diggs is a stud, Pat Queen, Chaisson have been multi year starters, and Jordan Battle has been impressive. So if we are talking talent as it translates to the NFL, 2019 has more top-end talent in my opinion.

2019 roster produced 30 drafted by the NFL including 7 1st round draft picks from the 2020, 2021, and 2020 drafts

If you look at the talent on the field from LSU and BAMA, the 2019 combined rosters produced 58 players drafted into the NFL

Amazing talent on both sides ??
