Saints in SB, college teams have to be as close to perfect as you can be these days to make the title game and well the Saints have Drew Brees.

I really hate threads like this... whichever 1 you say people think you are more biased to that team than the other. And its not true. Born and lived in LA my entire life. LSU is my college team and Saints are my NFL team. But people always think oh you like this team better than that team and its just wrong. But ill play along.

I mean its LSU IMO. You gotta look at level of talent in college than in the pros. LSU is more talented than every team in college football except for 4 or 5 teams. In the NFL. the amount of talent on each team is way closer than in college. And you could argue that Saints are 1 of the least talented teams from top to bottom roster wise. We beat teams that have more talent than us because of 2 people: Drew Brees and Sean Payton. Last year we didnt have Payton and look what happened. From top to bottom, the Falcons and even the Bucs are more talented than us. We beat them because our QB and Coach are better than theres. But in the playoffs, you will meet teams with QBs on the same level as Brees and coaches on the same level as Payton. And we dont have a D that can slow a team like that down.

College football is more about team talent than it is about in game play calling. LSU could beat a lot of teams running the same 10 plays. Hell, we have done that the past few years. Thats why, IMO, LSU gets the nod. They are more talented than 97% of the other teams in college, and equally talented as the other 5 teams.. Saints are equally or less talented than most of the teams in the NFL.

I dont think either team will be in the Championship game though. Both teams will gave good seasons. Saints should make the playoffs and LSU should be a top 15 team all year. Thats 2 very successful teams.

Always The Saints will be more likely to win it all imo. Nobody in the NFL gets the OSU/USC/Notre Dame/ Gump pass with watered down schedules and "voters" determining who advances. The Saints have a smaller margin for error against weekly opponents, but at least they don't have to overcome that other bullshite.

An elite SEC team with one loss is NEVER "basically out of the picture without help".

The only reason Bama played last year was because Oregon lost by a FG in OT and Ohio State was ineligible for post-season play.
And you're argument hinges on the fact that they lose only one game. But we're talking odds here. Odds are much lower that the Tigers go undefeated or one loss than a Saints team getting 9-10 wins and getting hot in the playoffs.

Saints defense is too bad right now. To make it back to the SB, they need to shape up the defense while Brees is still in his prime.

So i say LSU. They have the talent but the schedule is so brutal. It would take them getting in with a loss or 2, but thats not unheard of. LSU's been only a play or 2 away a few times recently.

LSU!! Saints will make the playoffs, but there are way more talented and complete teams in the NFL then the Saints this year. We make it to NFC championship if we don't play the NFC juggernaut! Defense is in a brand new scheme with fill in personnel not true 3-4 personnel no matter how much they wanna say we were set up for a 3-4 already. LSU extremely talented, but unproven defense and new OC. If D shows up which it should and O improves we are in BCSCG against probably BAMA or Ohio state unless they don't want to see another sec rematch in the last year then it's just OSU.

I really like The Saints this year. I think they surprise a lot of people. With Payton back I think they are fired up to make up for last year.

I equally love both teams.
but
If I was a betting man I'd have to go with LSU.

But it's funny how people say the Saints D is so awful. They were coach less and had a d coordinator come in which know one bought into.

Now they have a their coach back and a new d coordinator.

LSU's offense has been awful for the most part, but for some reason their new O coordinator will right the ship, but the Saints-no they can't right the ship

pure homer comments if I ever heard them

and it's not even close. New Orleans will be a 7-9 or 8-8 team this year.

so, they were 7-9 last year and 13-3 the year before, but with there coach back they'll have the same record

Have y'all done anything substantial to improve that defense?

The thinking is that LSU had talent but lacked coaching which has been solved. Saints lacked talent which was not solved.

This.

The Rant can be very homerish at times and this thread is one of those examples.

How anyone here can this before either team has taken a snap to start their season is beyond me.

Nothing wrong with predictions. I personally don't think the defensive scheme switch will yield positive results for New Orleans.
