Hopefully Tony V has a season of pain ahead of him!
I wish but I won’t bet against him. They picked up a couple of really good players in the portal and he’s got some young talent as well. I’m not saying he’ll repeat but we shouldn’t expect a down season next year.

Went look at their board this morning to see if they were melting, but they seem to be confident after they got a few HS guys to pull their name.
They have a gigantic high school class, 24 according to PG and only 2 of those guys have been drafted so far. It was the #1 class on PG but due to size not the best overall class as that would be our class when you look at average player, we just have a much smaller (15 man) class and therefore less points on PG ranking system. They have a ton of Top 100 players like we do though (bringing 7 in looks like, just nobody in Top 30 like we have).
They generally avoided guys being mocked in top 3-4ish rounds. Pretty smart recruiting by Vitello there.
This all being said, they havent hit the portal particularly hard and will have a VERY young team with all these kids coming to campus next season. Just dont see them being anything close to the team they just had as they probably will be relying on a number of freshmen if they plan on bringing in maybe 20 of these players. But baseball is a highly variable sport, they could slightly miss the postseason with the typical championship hangover or be back in omaha again, neither would surprise me.
All that being said, they are losing a TON of production from their team as it stands and seemingly replacing a lot of it through freshmen for the time being. They only have 5 portal additions and I highly doubt all 5 of those work out for them. They just had 8 players with eligibility left drafted to leave all of which were major contributors to their team this year. They are losing 5 more guys with no eligibility left 4 of which were big contributors to this years team as well. So that's a boatload to replace.

The Giants took a kid and the MLB tracker had no idea where he was from
or what he played.
We are at that point in the draft.

Little taken in the 11th round

That's a good development org for Little to go to.

Happy for him. Great teammate and locker room guy. I hope he beats the odds and makes it up to the show someday.

Not sure, just asking. Is Josh Pearson not draft eligible? What is status of Reaves and what is expected of him?
Posted on 7/16/24 at 1:28 pm to Prhuck
Pearson is draft eligible.
Reaves I think is on campus for the summer session that started last week. Expected to compete for playing time at multiple positions.

Was Tygart expected to go that late? I thought he was a projected first round guy at some point? I could just be wrong.

We feeling good on Luis Hernandez at this point?
Posted on 7/16/24 at 1:39 pm to king47
I don't really know what to think on guys like Hernandez, Beck, Ware, and Ryan.
Posted on 7/16/24 at 1:43 pm to ProjectP2294
Think it just comes down to whether or not they want to play school moving forward. Don't think Hernandez was in any of the recent top 500 mocks that I saw, but could be wrong. Beck and Ware could take a reduced signing bonus and just start their pro careers if they don't see a significant role here next year. With Ryan your guess is as good as mine - sounded like he was gone before the draft but can't imagine he would leave for a $150K signing bonus knowing he can improve his stock and get some decent NIL money at LSU for 3 years.
Guess we'll find out shortly.

teams haven’t taken a single righty 1B yet.
1 Switch hitter and lefties.

Even if that was the plan, he didn't do himself any favors in terms of his signing bonus. Need to play the game.
