re: MLB DRAFT THREAD

Think it just comes down to whether or not they want to play school moving forward. Don't think Hernandez was in any of the recent top 500 mocks that I saw, but could be wrong. Beck and Ware could take a reduced signing bonus and just start their pro careers if they don't see a significant role here next year. With Ryan your guess is as good as mine - sounded like he was gone before the draft but can't imagine he would leave for a $150K signing bonus knowing he can improve his stock and get some decent NIL money at LSU for 3 years.

Guess we'll find out shortly.
Per sources, staff has moved on from X. Ukponu (or at minimum he has moved down the DT board). At the moment, the expected class is Z. Williams, B. Brown, and hoping for one more from the recent targets that have visited.
Somebody got an even bigger bump today (up to #48 overall on Rivals), and his senior year hasn't even started...

Ross is now ranked (per the composite) as the #99 overall player, #11 LB, and #17 prospect in TX. Great to see for a career ST thumper!

@NotAStarGazer is still nowhere to be found
@NotAStarGazer Charles Ross is now an industry composite top 150 player, top 15 LB in the country, and top 25 player in the state of TX. He also has a verified/wind legal 100m time of 10.36 seconds this spring.

Now is it ok for us non-talent evaluators to consider that he might be more than a career STs player who won't contribute at LSU? Asking for a friend. Thanks!
Dude, don't question his talent evaluation skills! He knows more than the Northshore coaches, Blake Baker, the college coaches that have offered him, and all of the talent evaluators for the recruiting websites. He isn't explosive, running 0.3 of a second faster in the 100m than our recent RB commit isn't impressive because he doesn't know if it was wind-aided or not, and there's no way we should wait to see how he develops as a SR before labeling him a questionable take and a career ST player!
You're accusing me of hijacking a thread that I started? Lol. You have 60+ posts just in this thread, ~5x more than me and "others". Have a good one.
I am very much capable of dividing 900 by 90 to get an average of 10 posts per day. I am also able to calculate that in one fewer year on this site, you have ~45x the amount of posts that I do.

Take a deep breath, take a break from the keyboard, you don't have to try to prove that you're the smartest guy in the room. Will RA this post for an anchor since you've objectively hijacked it at this point.
His film is unwatchable yet you formed an opinion that he wasn't much to be excited about either, despite him having strong offers listed? Huh, interesting.

Reverting to personal attacks regarding the ability to perform simple division seems below you based on how you want others to treat you, but guess that's all you have bring to the conversation at this point
Charles Ross and Corey Adams! That's two prospects - hey look, I can do math too!
NotaStarGazer said he won't be good because he watched his JR year highlights and looked at his offer sheet (which he admits is good which is why he claims Charles Ross won't be good - no contradiction there) plus he's already 16 years old so there's no way he can develop further. He does more scouting than anyone on this site so hard to argue with that logic!
Watching highlights and reading offer lists is not "scouting". It takes 4 minutes to do the same thing that you are doing. It is not impressive nor something that only you are able to do. Everyone else just gets excited about a commitment and waits to see what happens when they get to campus. You make definitive statements about a 16 year old and argue with anyone that doesn't agree with your opinion.

Tons of kids claim "offers" that are not committable but get posted to their profile. Committable offers is what matters at the end of the day. I'm sure you are in the know with each staff and know which offers are committable or not. If he was able to commit to LSU, we're excited about him and happy to have him.

Continue to give us your expert "scouting" reports on each prospect, we can't wait for you to tell us how to feel!
Took about 5 minutes, just like providing context and stats to further conversations

You have been on this site for less than 3 months and have over 900 posts, you definitely weren't done posting ITT and clearly still aren't. Must have gotten under your skin so you felt the need to double down and prove you are the smartest guy in the room. Glad we have an expert talent evaluator on our board to tell us how to feel about offers and commitments! Makes our lives so much easier!
Watching 3-minute highlight clips that are available to everyone on the internet and looking at a website that reports offers is not "scouting prospects". These colleges have access to full-game film, talk to other coaches that have coached against these players, see them in camp settings, and rely on decades of coaching experience to make these offers and accept commitments. You post 50 times a day on tigerdroppings. No one is saying he'll be the next Patrick Willis, but we'll take their expertise over yours.
Was about to put out the batsignal for you to come tell us how to feel about this RPM. Thank God you're already here! Now I don't have to be excited about this recruit and can go about my day.
Since he's so concerned with stats, here are a few interesting ones from this thread.

NotaStarGazer's "I Didn't Hijack the Charles Ross Commitment Thread" stats:
- 52 unique posts (and counting)
- 4,609 words
- Countless emojis used
- 51 upvotes (almost assuredly all his own)
- 419 downvotes
- 0 fricks given by the rest of the board

Glad to have Charles Ross on board!
I have no issue with your opinion, you're entitled to it just as everyone else is. I'm not narrow-minded, I (and everyone else) just said you should wait to see how he develops as a SR before (objectively) stating that he will never start a game at LSU based on your analysis of his film. That is being narrow-minded.

1. You stated that because a majority of the 125 FBS teams have not offered Ross, he will not be an impact player at LSU. My point was (and you noted in your response) that most schools realize they would just be wasting resources so strictly looking at an offer sheet is not a fair assessment. Players also embellish their offer lists and report offers they do not have. Schools dive into film and throw out tons of offers after JR seasons and his offer list has grown recently and will certainly continue to grow.

2. Recruiting services do not hit on 83-89% of all players in a given class. Far from it.

3. Right, but even though they only cover one state, they still have less eyes on these players than On3, 247, etc. and are subject to misses just as frequently if not more than those services because of the resources available to them. No one is perfect in this industry.

4. That's fine, your definition of explosiveness is different than mine (and everyone else in this thread and multiple HS coach's/talent evaluator's opinions on other forums who rave about his "explosiveness", ability to shed blocks, cover, blitz, etc.) and that's fair. Straight-line speed and lateral agility, short area burst, etc. are all very different and I recognize that. But for a kid his size, who will still get bigger, he seems to be at least above average on all fronts and projects to continue to get better.

I'm acknowledging that he might be the best LB ever at LSU, he might be the worst LB ever at LSU, ORRRR he might fall somewhere in between, but definitely stating that he will never start a game at LSU based on JR highlights is jumping the gun 100%. No one knows how he will develop; you gave your opinion (dozens of times) so we know where you stand. The horse is dead, no need to beat it further. By the way, he's top 300 currently and trending upwards by all accounts. Wouldn't call that a poor rating. Let's see how his offer list and ranking looks after his SR year and we can revisit.

You've posted 3 Harry Potter novels in this thread, compared to my singular follow-up post attempting to address your comments. But keep yelling at the sky, maybe someone will listen!
You hijacked the thread, I thought it was only right to give you a shoutout in the OP.

1. Bryce Underwood is the undisputed #1 player in the nation for the 2025 class, yet he doesn't have an offer from all 125+ D1 programs. Are they wrong about him being worth a scholarship offer and would any of those programs turn him down if he wanted to commit? I'll answer for you, no.
2. Were all the recruiting services correct when they had guys like Tate Martell, Korey Foreman, Tommy Brockermeyer, Brock Vandagriff, Arch Manning, Malachi Nelson, and dozens of others as "generational" or top 10-20 prospects who didn't pan out to be anywhere close to that? I'll answer for you, no.
3. Does Dave Campbell have the same size staff as On3, 247, Rivals, and ESPN and spend as much time watching these prospects in person at camps and in games, breaking down film, etc? I'll answer for you, no. He may be right on some and wrong on others but to pretend he is the ultimate say on TX HS football is cherry picking to the highest degree.
4. His highlights show explosiveness and that is backed up by verified 10.48 100m time at 6'2 200 pounds. Caden Durham ran a similar time at a similar weight and he's considered a HR-hitting RB and a top prospect in the nation. Is it a guarantee that he will be a multi-year starter because he is fast? Again...no.

But as everyone has pointed out, he comes from an elite HS program, he starts and plays all over the field, including blitzing and dropping into coverage on slot WRs which shows his versatility, and he has great size and blazing track times for that size. That's a great foundation to build upon. He may be Patrick Queen, he may be a guy like Josh White with good athleticism but just couldn't quite put it together. We won't know, but acting like you do at this point because of his offer list and highlights is pretty crazy.

Bottom line: you might be right, you might be wrong, but one thing is for sure...you should post less.
