Free? How? they cant be giving out full scholarships to all these guys.
I've been thinking that in some of these cases the tuition cost actually plays in their favor, along with the degree and their ability to develop players obviously. If a player is strictly weighing the financial side of things, what is the actual dollar value of 50% of a Vanderbilt scholarship for 3 or 4 years compared to LSU, and compared to their bonus offer?

Can any of the incoming guys play CF right away
I don't know about CF, but Cody Ducote will prolly be a good OF candidate, I think he plays there some.
Itll be interesting to see where everybody winds up. Byrd, Zardon, Deichmann, Lochridge, Dawson, Freeman, Kramer Robertson, all in competition for 2B, SS, & 3B. Somebody prolly getting moved to OF....

Ding ding. We'll see an infielder move to LF for his bat.

The Twins just drafted a 1B from Florida Gulf Coast named Nick Rivera. I bring this up for no other reason than that is the name of Dr Nick on the Simpson.

So as of now we feel good about keeping all the incoming class except Taylor, Piatnik, and January?

Also looks like Steven Sensely from LSU-E hasnt gone drafted, unreal ULL will end up with Stefon Trosclair and Steven Sensley in back to back years from LSU-E
Sensley round 38 to the Rays.

I guess McKay & Taylor are gone before ever seeing Alex Box...
Why would McKay go for 3oth round?

Deichmann or Freeman would be my guess if they don't win an infield spot.

So, if Chinea leaves (which "insiders" claim in the other thread he will), we'll return 1 of 9 from the starting lineup (Fraley)? Yikes!

Marlins draft Matthew Foley of Rhode Island College in the 40th round. I wonder if he lives in a van down by the river?

Correct, but all our pitching staff is back minus Person. It will be a pitching heavy team no doubt, unless we have A LOT of surprises.

I could ask this question in a different way, but I am just interested in your answer. How many of these players that you have listed will get slot? And, which ones will they be? As you know, all this will come out.

As a general rule of thumb, the seniors dont come close to slot usually.
Scivicque and Foster have slot values of $426k and $304k...if they're lucky they might come close to those numbers, if they aren't, could be about half those values.
Person and Hale have slots of $158k-$164k...they may sign for next to nothing ($5k-$20k...not uncommon).
Now the juniors should all get slot, close to it, or above it. No telling what Chris Chinea gets offered in 17th round.

without even looking at what other teams have, I would find it hard to believe that another team in the SEC will have as good of as staff as LSU, maybe even the country.
The crazy thing is if we score 4 runs a game that may be enough to at-least host a regional maybe top 8 seed. Our staff will be crazy good.

I knoW this may be early to ask this question with the draft just ending, but when should we start hearing about how latz is looking?

Skip, always says it's pitching that wins, but Arky's staff last year was crazy good and they didn't even get a regional IIRC. I hope we can carry some of our hitting over to next year.
