I found one from 2024. A lot of praise for him in this one.

Mingione had a very classy interview. Went out of his way, almost over the top, to talk about how good a coach Jay is and how great Hollman was and is.

He did have a classy answer in his press conference. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a douchebag during games
Posted on 3/28/26 at 4:31 pm to lsufball19
That’s fine. I’m just saying it seems like Jay really likes him and according the that thread, a lot of LSU fans like him too.
Posted on 3/28/26 at 4:45 pm to LSBoosie
You acted like there was no reason to dislike him. There is. A pretty well-known reason to fans who pay attention.

Wonder what that says about his very best buddy and Best man in his wedding

No I was more so trying to say that many of the things that he does that people dislike are also things that Jay does.

I missed when Jay fricked with fielders as a base coach.
Just shut the frick up becuase you don’t know a fricking thing

And you are wrong because he does much worse things but if that’s how you feel, sure.

Quit stalking me man, it’s weird.

I’m sure he does things that I don’t like. Hell, Jay does some things that I don’t like. There were posters on here talking about all the “BS” that he does referring to him calling time to talk to a hitter to throw the pitcher off his rhythm lol
Posted on 3/28/26 at 5:32 pm to TigerMac81
He's annoying, that's for sure! But he does try to fight for his guys, and that's what leaders should do. He is an a-hole, though.

The most accurate description of what he did during LSU Moo St game as 1B coach:
quote:
Nick Mingione is a huge bitch. When he was coaching 1st base at Mississippi State he fricked with LSU's relay by yelling during the play.
quote: Hanover was going to throw home when all of a sudden he heard a voice yelling '2-2-2-2,'"
Mainieri said. "It was their first base coach yelling that. There's no rule against it in the rule book, but there's an unwritten rules in the game of baseball. Your not supposed to do things like that. That's a bush league move and I let him know that."

He is a good coach. He coaches hard and to win.
Jay does the same thing he does at times like calling offensive time outs, changing pitchers in the middle of a batter.
Coaching hard and backing your guys doesn’t make you an a-hole like Van Horn and Vitello. Those guys last 2 guys players act like assholes. His do not.

I feel like I posted that. I especially starting with “Nick Mingione is a huge bitch.”

Jay does crap like call hitter time outs in the middle of at bats. He also has changed pitchers in the middle of batters. In my day that was bush league.

Vitello is the child of Van Horn and Jim Schlossnagle. He coached under BOTH.
You all can talk shite about Mingione but his players don’t act like assholes like those other 2. I judge bush league a lot differently than you all because Jay would be bush league in my day.

That was never bush league. He calls time for batters to give his pitcher more time to rest after 2 quick outs. The 3B coach would do it back in your day. And changing a pitcher mid batter had to do with a pitcher needing more time to get ready or a pitcher on the mound who simply wasn’t close or hurt. Again, none of that an issue.
Jay’s first year saw a ton of pitching changes. He had zero patience and had to piece together games. Lots of people weren’t used to that approach. Then you had years like last year where starters went 8 innings on the regular. He adjusts.

Think people forget the only starter on that staff, Hilliard, wouldn’t have cracked our weekend rotation most years and he was all we had Jay’s first year

Bull fricking shut unless you’re little league. Im talking college from my day. You were probably born in the 70’s or 80’s. I umpired them. Do the fricking math.
