richt has had a severe talent decline since the early-mid 00s
Pretty similar to Miles, the previous coach (Donnan) got him his talent.

Who in turn should thank DiNardo.

DiNardo brought some pretty top notch players, Him and Tepper didn't know how to use them.

This is true, his defensive talent is nowhere near the talent that Donnan left him, nor has he come close to finding a QB 80% as good as D. Greene was. I think Richt is having a hard time motivating his players as the OL should be destroying people upfront and they simply are not playing well this season. It has to be extremely difficult to remain near the top with the mindset of many young players today. Then again, Richt isn't known to be a disciplinarian nor a "in your face" guy, either. His one game suspensions the last 5-years have become woefully hilarious. Son, you are sitting out against the School for the Blind for driving on a suspended license, but we need you back for USC. At least Miles does not have 8-9 players arrested every year and has upgraded the talent the past two classes.

I think Richt is a good coach....he brought Georgia back to a good program...he just reliquished alot of power to his assistants who prolly didnt deserve it...but he was a hellofa OC at FLa ST...

Nah, he lost a great college DC in Van Gorder and replaced him with a bad promotion, but the talent, especially on D, is not where it was 5-years ago, that is easy to see. Stafford would have helped if he stayed for his SR season last year instead of having to go with Joe Cox.
It just goes to show that if a coach gets a QB that is legitimately good enough to play a substantial number of snaps and/or start and play well as a frosh, then stays 4-seasons, it solves a lot of problems. Stafford was much more physically gifted than Greene, but was not as good in college, and I am sure having AJ Green suspended is not helping UGA's offense. Just think about all those great DL and LBs UGA was putting into the NFL in the early rounds 5-8 years ago, they are not close to that level of talent now although they still are very competitive talent-wise in the SEC.

He may be but he has much better fan support. Georgia fans seem to have faith in him.

THIS - I was going to respond with this, but you beat me to it. Richt is exactly the kind of "model citizen" that people here just eat up. Granted, this will only go so far, but he gets a much, much longer leash than Miles ever will. Richt is their kind of guy. Miles isn't ours (although I'm not sure who is).
On top of that, like another poster said, Richt inherited a pretty mediocre club from Jim Donnan. He's been pretty successful overall in his career at UGA.

You might be surprised as to how long a leash a NC gives a coach.

No doubt, but I highly doubt Saban should thank Dinardo for that. He never got to coach most of those guys. Also, none of those guys won a national championship in 2003. Saban didn't need Dinardo's help.

Kennison signed with Hallman in 1992. Faneca was gone before Sabes arrived. I'm not even sure if Mark Roman or McClure played under Sabes either. Hell, Henderson signed in 2000 as part of Sabes' first class at LSU.

Its sad....but at least half of Miles' problems are due to things totally non football related IMO
20% is because he followed Saban.
20% is b/c he sounds like a doofus.
60% is because of how his teams play on the field every Saturday.

And Saban barely got to coach must of the guys on the '07 team

Richt is 49-18. If Richt was our Head Coach with that kind of record,
The Rant would have him strung up by now.

Yeah, LSU is so much worse off than they were when Miles inherited a 9 win team that needed 3 missed extra points to beat a bad Oregon St. team, got humiliated by Georgia, needed a last minute score to beat Troy, struggled against Vandy, and barely beat a 3 win Ole Miss team.
Miles would have been crucified for the 2004 team. Yet those same people say Saban left him with a juggernaut. If the coaches had been reversed, we would be hearing how Saban rebuilt the program instead of winning with Miles' players.

We all went to the UNC game and he was just giving Les all kinds of hell, typical ranter type of rips, etc. But the sons are so unbelievably positive about uga. It was baffling to me. LSU fans (myself included) are the most spoiled in the SEC. I told then Richt woulda been fired 5 years ago at LSU and oddly enough, they all agreed.
You have really summed up my thoughts with this example...
furthermore, I find an added irony that most of the Anti-Miles people all list Richt as being a better coach than Miles, and would trade for him straight even... weird....

Richt and the UGA brass don't seem to be on the same page, from what I've read on the subject. It's sort of like a failed marriage.
