How many elite coaches out there would have displayed this type of rant about how proud he was of his team after an escape victory over a far inferior opponent?

That was pure showmanship, planned and thought out.

Fair question but in the hearts and minds of football coaches every win is precious. It was a commentary about not quiting when they could have quit.

Don't poke fun at our coach because yours is terrible. That's called bad sportmanship.

I felt like it was more to do with loyalty to Shepard than the game.

That was planned. Win or lose he was going to use that opportunity to respond to that newspaper article about Russel Shepard.

In fairness, Rabalais' article was not bad. It was definitely planned. As I stated in a earlier post: showmanship!

To be fair, while I think Gundy is a very good coach, the OP was talking about elite coaches. The OP recognizes that Les Miles is indeed an elite coach.

Props to you, Chd1478, for calling Les Miles an elite coach. I am glad you agree that he is one of the best coaches in all of college football

Headline made it seem worse than it really was, and Rabalais has nothing to do with the headline.

Was gonna post this.

"I'm a man. I'm 40!!" A lot of people don't realize or remember he was defending his QB against a "bad" article written by a reporter.

Just like Miles.

Truth.

In fact, when Les first went off, I thought he was pissed because Rabalais called him out for not utilizing RS more.

I think Gundy was defending an underclassman QB. He wasn't defending a senior who stayed with the program for 4 years.
