but i don't think a poker player once to be within one inch of losing.

Are you trying to say "wants"?

I heard this all last year.

There is no pre-season in college football. Also, LSU played 2 SEC teams.

Wow. congrats! I've seen a lot of misspelled words over years on this site, but that's the first time I've ever seen the word "wants" spelled like "once". Just giving you a hard time. I'm not the grammar police btw.

And by the way I agree that if Miles truely was playing it close to the vest and holding back then that almost blew up in his face because there is no way he would have scripted nearly losing the game like that on purpose.

To even entertain the idea that Miles and staff held anything back last week at Miss. State is just asinine.

How soon we forget.

I really don't care whether he was:

1) holding his cards close to the vest;

2) trying desperately to work on the inside running game against lesser opponents;

3) trying to simplify the system to allow because the younger players on offense to grasp it.

4) trying to build a comfort level in JJ by not trying more dangerous plays sooner;

5) wanting to reward Scott for what he perceives as his hard running and his good attitude;

6) just being stubborn;

7) the dog ate his playbook; or

8) some other reason or combination of reasons.

Like I said I don't particulary care what the reason is. I DO care that they open it up starting this week. Pretty Please.

What is their to open up? The only thing we can hope for is better execution and more Shep in the backfield.

Our running game will be a problem all year long but if we totally abandon it we will continue to suck in the redzone.

I've felt all along MIles knows exactly what he is doing. Although after last week's game I've become dang nervous. We have the talent to win the SEC. Our major concern is QB experience. We are still feeling the effects of RP's loss.

I'd like to challenge him in a game of Texas Putt-em or 5-card Bogey.

Bad thing about this play on golf and poker. Theres not any mulligans or wild cards in football. The goal line stance was a tee shot inches from being out of bounds, and hitting the straight on the river.

If I remember right, after Miles got rid of Perilloux, there were some posts about whether people thought that it was the right thing to do, even if it cost us 1 or even 2 sub par years. I'm pretty sure most (including me) said yeah, it was the right thing.

Now, it's the 2nd year and I think we can safely say that the decision* did affect the success of the team last year and could well do so again this year.

Question is, do people still feel that it was the right thing to do? I still do.

*Of course, I think it was not only RP's "loss" but the skill/experience situation with the back ups (or lack of the combination of those things).

Rant Principle #1: If SFP dislikes your post, then their is genius in your post....

so thanks for the indirect compliment...and read the post carefully...because you are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 7

State was one of those games where you aren't in danger of losing, then u field a punt on the 5 n with a young QB u can't really risk too much.

I guess by that logic, so is Mark Richt. Richt has been playing close to the vest until he plays LSU.

Therefore, this it won't matter because everything will cancel out.

Not really. I am referring to offense, where the most sandbagging potential exists. UGA has looked less than spectacular for different reasons than has LSU. UGA has averaged 3 turnovers per game (which certainly is not indicative of conservative close-to-the-chest offensive play calling) and also because their defense has shown real issues.

LSU has had a variety of issues, but the offense has been the biggest dissapointment.

I honestly do not know what the man is thinking, cause Miles has a brain unlike no other (as witness by his quirky expressions that are framed much differently than most).

He is either a genius or the opposite.

I hope he is a genius. I am far from convinced that is the case.

I would gladly be proved wrong.

Until we get the next 2 (or 3) games behind us, we are all just asserting and guessing for the 2009 team.

This is his team. There are no excuses not to play well. None. Plenty of reps. No notable injuries...etc...

Geaux Big Les geaux !!

When you see Shepard throw out of the wildcat formation, you know we have entered the REAL season. I hope Miles lets it happen and does not hold Crowton back.
It could be the first nail in Les's coffin.

Well that goal line stand last weekend to save the game was going all-in!!

If Miles knew that his team could hold them on the 4 inch line to win the game then he has the best team in the fricking country.
