Is anyone else mildly surprised that the Miles camp and LSU administration are allowing him to enter the 16' season with only 3.3 yrs left on his contract? I thought that with the late season situation in 15' and the momentum from the bowl game and subsequent position coaching hires that at the very least they would have worked on a 2 yr extension with perhaps a very friendly buyout covering the added yrs. At the very least this would have prevented the hot seat talk perhaps going into the season and limited the drum beat should an unexpected early season loss occur (at AU or UF) during the season. As is, the contract along with the Miles clause still in the OC extension makes a 9-3 season a tough call for everyone. I have never bought into the "this is the year for Miles to prove it" talk but I would imagine there are few coaches going into 16' with less than 4 yr on their current deal.

It's pretty obvious now that Miles will leave when Miles wants to leave. Probably after a couple more SEC championships, a NC, and the LSU win record.

he was pretty much fired last year, but yet you think they would extend his contract?

If that is the case then why not lock it in this offseason ala Auburn and Gus? If Miles had all the power and won the overthrow attempt, why not use all that to garner a new contract that assures what you say? Why the Miles clause in Cameron's extension? 9-3 gonna be a tough sell to re-up Miles to 2 more years as compared to this offseason.

It's surprising they didn't extend a coach who already has 3 years left on his contract and was almost fired. Okay. I'm glad you don't run LSU's checkbook because the athletic department would be bankrupt.

Extensions are for coaches that produce.
Not for "Will get'em next year!".

Let this season play out. All we know that is different , Aranda has had success and is respected and Coach Craig wants to help Brandon be a better QB.

The Offense needs to show improvement.

This is the make or break season for CLM. Les has never had less than 3 yrs on his contract. Simple situation here. If he makes a New Years Day bowl (not even the playoffs) he will likely get a two yr extension - not sure of the money. If something less than that and he gets no contract extension then he is lame duck and the recruiting will exit stage left. LSU will be forced to buy him out and get another coach IF they want the program to keep up the level it has been.

Money bet is that he does well enough this year to get that extension. The Rantards who want championships don't realize that the people that run this brand called LSU Football, namely TAF, are more concerned that the economy is robust, i.e. hotels full for games, restaurants full, tickets all sold, souvenirs selling, etc...

If an extension is offered then the athletic department better be prepared shell out free money if and when Miles under performs once again.

Everyone in the country knows we have the most incompetent AD in college athletics but that should not handicap us from being able to make changes if need be. LSU should always be in a position to make a buyout from here on out with Miles.

Then you're an idiot.

Miles brings home a natty this year, he's regained enough capital to leave on his terms, and I will applaud him.

We make the playoffs, it's a successful season.

He goes 9-4 or so with getting his arse handed to him in November again, he's gone.

Why in the world do you think he'd be getting an extension?
