I'd forgotten that his debut took place on the single best non-kids-being-born day of my life, 2007 UF-LSU.

Safe Travels, Mike.

RIP Mike the Tiger.
Told my kids just then, both went to their room to cry.
I even teared up a little typing this.

Their has never been a more beautiful animal ever put on this planet than Mike VI.

First time I cried in a long time seeing those pictures of Mike VI.

May the next mascot be as beautiful as Mike.

RIP Mike VI Forever LSU!!

I'm having a harder time with this than I thought I would. He was the only Mike I ever got to see in person, and with the rise of social media over his lifetime, he was the most accessible Mike, with videos on youtube and his twitter and Facebook, etc. Losing him feels way more personal than I could have imagined.

Rest in Peace, brother.

Same here. Knew it was coming and it's still a blow. I'm devastated.

Among the many sad thoughts, I think of the guy they called the "tiger whisperer."

Mike would recognize me when I visited and usually come to the glass, but he could be lying down on his porch at the back of the habitat and come running every time the guy came around.

The guy said that his relationship with Mike lifted his spirits and saved him from suicide.

If he were around, you know Mike's illness and
death would bring him out.

I hope the best for the man and hope if he is no longer among the living, his transition was a peaceful one.

RIP Mike, but your job isn't done yet. We still need your help winning football games and I know you and the other Mikes will be with us in Tiger Stadium helping us take down anyone who dares to enter.

ETA: seriously started tearing up as I wrote this.

LSU should honor Mike VI by placing eye black under or around the tiger eye on the 50 yard line for all remaining home games or until Mike VII arrives...

RIP Mike

I was in school when we got him and he was so personable. I used to go by his cage and watch him play between classes, he often hammed it out for onlookers. Think I'll suggest my old intramural team name as a tribute to him for softball next spring: Team Rosco.

Here's to Mike
