Would it be so wrong to make the cage sound proof? Why can Memphis bring their tiger on the field.

If the cage is sound proof then there’s zero things that are badass about it. The roaring was the coolest part. However, Tigers only roar when they’re pissed off or scared.

If you asked the majority of former players from opponent teams if they cared that Mike was there when they ran out the tunnel they would say no. If anything him roaring is the only unsettling part.

Now those who work for tv networks who’s job it is to hype up games will say it did. But in reality it’s just a gimmick at the expense of Mike. And most would tell you that.

LSU has become overly PC with this crap and you guys are eating it up.

Has LSUs admin become overly PC? Yes, about a lot of things. Is this an example? No. This is just objectively better for Mike’s health. The rest of the grown ups and I really don’t care if your feelings are hurt over it.

Glad to know you are ok with scaring animals for your entertainment. I guess some of us have become more civilized and some of us remain in the Stone Age.

If you say so. I also hunt and fish. The horror!!

There’s a difference between hunting and fishing and putting animals in cages.

I’d rather this debate than the band playing Neck. We can control Neck being played. Stop the vulgar chant = band plays Neck.

As far as Mike on the field? I’m all for it and wish we would bring it back. We have top notch care for our Tiger. They live double the life on campus than they do in the wild.

Bring back Mike to the field!

"As further evidence of LSU’s dedication to providing the best, most responsible care for tigers, LSU is working to have the tiger habitat accredited as a tiger sanctuary. Becoming an accredited sanctuary means that LSU has met high standards of excellence in animal care and is operating ethically and responsibly. LSU believes that these changes are in the best interest of the longevity and ethical management of the LSU tiger mascot program." The Advocate

Part of the accreditation process includes an agreement to discontinue taking him on the field.

You mean the caring for more than your own personal interests? Yeah I’ll take that “liberalism” any day over the greed and raping of the world resources that “conservatism” promotes.

The universe was NOT created for humans. We are a product of the universe, not the reason for it. The sooner you wake up from your fairytale beliefs and see that, the better off you will be.

I know. right? wouldnt you rather be killed and eaten, than put in a sound proof cage for 15 minutes.

If you are killing animals JUST TO KILL THEM, you are a sick frick.

If you are hunting for food, that is different. Everything has to eat to survive. That is nature. Putting a tiger in a small cage just for some idiots entertainment is NOT nature.

He just lays in his cage looking nervous. He growled bc he was being shocked with a cattle prod...yeh lets bring that back and have the nutcases at PETA start bitching again

While I don’t agree with everything PETA does, they are right about this one. You don’t torture a living creature for fricking entertainment. That’s barbaric and we should strive to be a better society than that. Animals are fully capable of experiencing fear and pain and we have no right to inflict either on them for fricking entertainment

Im glad yall are so much smarter and enlightened than the thousands of people that came through LSU before you.

Just curious, do you also hate zoos? Rodeos? Do you white knight for Bevo, and Ralphie the buffalo as well? Im sure they'd rather be out in a pasture somewhere too. Or do you just get outraged over the ones PETa tells you to?

riding around in a sound proof cage for 10 minutes is not as sadistic as peta has led you to believe.

I am not an advocate for bringing Mike into the stadium. I think these threads are dumb. I really question the ones that say he should be on the sideline bc I am beginning to think they have never seen him in the stadium bc if they have they would realize it was not that big of a deal

If I were a wild animal, I would rather live in the wild and die of natural causes (being killed by a predator) than be captured and caged.

Moreover, this is a false equivalency. It’s not just 15 minutes. It’s much longer than that and they agitate and frighten him to get him to roar so that we can feel more intimidating. That is wrong. Sorry if that upsets you. I’m not saying we should ever get rid of Mike, I’m not saying you shouldn’t yell and try to intimidate the opposing team, but doing so at the expense of a Tiger we claim to love is wrong. On top of how the other team isn’t really put off by it.

The whole Mike in the stadium thing is so that LSU fans can feel intimidating when they should just be intimidating on their own.

Nobody gives a shite about PETA dumbass. I hunt and fish too. There’s nothing wrong with thinking maybe it’s not okay to bring a tiger in a cage in front of 100k screaming fans. That doesn’t make you a liberal. Get over yourself.

You’re sitting here bitching about a tiger not being able to come into the stadium for YOUR enjoyment. Pitiful

It still blows my mind that people think this is some kind of PETA thing

we weren't going to be able to get another tiger from a reputable place unless we made this concession

Memphis' got their tiger in 2008. They will have to deal with this when they go to get a new one (or not because their tiger is owned by the boosters)

Have some of you been living under a rock? Mike will never go into the stadium again. You can whine about it all you want. It will not happen. These threads are just ridiculous.

LSU wants to be a sanctuary. Mike was also donated to LSU by another sanctuary. There were agreements made.
