I thought I had read that he roars at the Mike the Tiger mascot. Maybe that was Mike V.

He lives in a tiger mansion, and I feel his payment should be a 30 minute ride around the field 7 times a year whether he "feels like it" or not.

You plan on going in there to get his arse out?

I know for a fact up until 1998 or thereabouts they would prod Mike in front of the student section to make him roar. I was always about 10 rows away and it was pretty cool. The roar not the prod. Not exactly sure when they stopped.

Yes

How was it handled back in day (pre PETA)?

Probably lured into the cage with food

Is it really inhumane to throw food in the trailer to trick him

I would think not, but it is rough to make a wild animal attend a football game

or have a female tiger rear mounted in the front of his trailer?

1) probably not humane to mount a female tiger
2) we don't have a female tiger
3) how would you like it if you got lured into a cage by a fine piece of tail, and got nothing? Can you say tiger bluebells?

Screw all these gen-x,y,z figs...

Get the frickin tiger in the trailer. It's why we have a tiger. We've spent a gozillion dollars providing a San Diego Zoo style environment. I don't feel bad if we lure him into a trailer and drag his/her arse around campus for a couple of hours 5 or 6 times a year. Sheesh.

For that matter, I don't care if they taze his arse to make him roar.

this country has turned into a bunch of pussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike's not a true tiger fan. Leaves before the game's over and decides to not even go sometimes. Should sell his tickets to TRUE fans IMO.

There isn't a Tiger on the planet that lives as well as Mike. Health care, house, food...Mike hit the lottery when he become Mike the Tiger.

When he wants to come to TS, I wonder what our record is?

If you walk up to him in his habitat while he's walking around he'll give you an acknowledgment snort. Supposedly it is a greeting

Mikes hates the new fireworks that go off when the team takes the field, its one of the reasons he doesnt like to get in his trailer. I believe his trailer leaves the field before the team comes out because of the fireworks.

No shite! Ralphie the Buffalo runs up & down the damn football field.

Tigers are smarter than Buffalo, I blame the handlers. Since Day 1 they should have been training Mike to learn to do SOMETHING on game day.

It's not that hard; really.

Please expound on how you can force this type of animal in a cage humanely.

C'mon, man! Think of the possibilities...a live chicken for So.Car., little baby pig for Arkansas, maybe an occasional poodle or Pekinese, etc, etc...

Yeah, yeah, OK, PETA...settle down. Barring live 'Tiger bait', would it be that terribly inhumane to have someone hang the end of a string thru the steel mesh and jiggle a rubber snake tied on it, or something of that nature? I mean, people do it to their cats all the time to attract their attention; he's just a BIG kitty.
