He lives in a tiger mansion, and I feel his payment should be a 30 minute ride around the field 7 times a year whether he "feels like it" or not.
Walk into his cage, put a leash on him and drag his butt into that trailer then. See how well that ends up for you.

Not at all. You made a stupid thread and I was stating as such. Carry on.

To everyone hounding the OP, please explain what is wrong with this suggestion from page one:

Put the food in the trailer. As someone else said, do it for a week prior to gameday. No issues. Instincts kick in.

To me there is difference between "forcing" him in and trying to entice him in. I'm not sure what they really do and don't do. If they just back the trailer up and hope he wanders in then yeah, they could do more.
To me, force means using coercive measures. I think it's ok if they don't go that far.
Food and such would be find for me.

Les miles has lost control of Mike VI

All the guy is asking is what exactly Mike's trainers do to get him into the cage. Do they try to lure him in with food or some other type of bait? Or, if he shows no interest, do they just not bother. I'm curious to know the answer myself.
I'm not advocating forcing Mike to do anything. It'd be stupid to hurt a tiger just so we can watch him roar at the opposing team when they come out of the locker room. But I do take the Spurrier/Clowney stance here. If he doesn't want to go, cool. But why can't we find one who will? Did we have this problem with the last one? I was younger but I just don't remember it happening this often.

Pick the worst poster on TD and make HIM stand at the back of trailer....that lazy striped mother would have a field day and we'd see the big dude every home game.

Mike hates the cage.
I am assuming that enticing him with food is only going to happen if you suppress his diet by some measure, because he hates the cage and will go to great lengths to avoid it.
If the above is correct, then in my opinion it is inhumane to do this for something so trivial.

Yeah, let's get rid of this awesome, rare and beautiful animal we've had for over 5 years and get a new one, only in hopes that maybe it'll go in a trailer so it can be rolled around Tiger Stadium 7-8 times a year.
Or let's get like 10 tigers and have bachelorette-style competition. If you don't go in the trailer, you're eliminated. Genius!

We didn't. Every tiger is different though.

Dude, why are you getting all butthurt about it? Mike coming into Tiger Stadium is a big part of pregame tradition. If we can, it would be nice to get a tiger that's able to participate. Otherwise, you could have an entire generation of kids grow up who never really get to see it.
No one is saying we should euthanize him. Has it ever occurred to you that if Mike VI doesn't like pregame/getting into the cage etc., maybe he doesn't like anything else about being a mascot either? Would it not make more since to put this "beautiful animal" in an environment more suitable to him?

So you're basically saying we need a new tiger because Mike VI won't get in his cage a few times a year.

The poor children.

Um... like chilling in his multi-million dollar habitat and being fed like a king and taken care of around the clock by great and dedicated vets? Yeah, I bet he hates that.
