And the bulk of that comes from Ole Miss, who was legendarily bad at defense

Yeah I think their defense was actually worse than ours.

Sorry, I have to call BS on you. As everyone already knows what Ed O is saying because he made it perfectly clear when he explained why Max Johnson was going to get the first team reps.

Meanwhile, Mike Detillier, on the other hand, is just expressing his own personal feeling and in which is the same exact thing he has always been saying.

Moreover, Mike Detillier is very good friends with the Brennan Family of New Orleans. Hence, he is never going to say something that will put that long-term relationship with the politically connected Brennan Family in jeopardy and I can't say I blame him

Really? Man...you can tell that a QB has improved, is better than his competition, and will inevitably win the starting job by just viewing pictures. Man, that's utterly amazing superpowers you have there sir. Let me congratulate you on your amazing superpowers you alone seem to have.

I mean Johnson went against the 8th pass defense and 13th pass defense in the SEC for his starts, so whats your point?

Max won. Myles didn't.

Nuss is gonna be behind Johnson and eventually Howard. Not sure how long he sticks around.

Well can you go in depth and explain exactly how you can tell a certain player is better and will be the starter based entirely on looking at pictures. I mean guessing based on your own personal preference isn't amazing superpowers is it?

In other words, what you said in your first post wasn't true and you were actually stating what you wish and hope for. I mean, it's pretty damn obvious.

he moves so well in the pocket. His movement skills and his ability to find the open man is intriguing.

he’s a different style QB from what we have seen at LSU.

think the battle will come down to mobility in pocket.

then there is no battle, Johnson is clearly better moving around, the battle is how often do they need to move around in the pocket that will determine who we should go with.

I don't think that there many teams that truly worry a Saban defense. It takes more than just a threat of a RPO QB to beat them. Offensively you have to execute but most importantly is you have to stop their offense from scoring.

I get it and agree somewhat but, I would like to see what Myles can do in a real season before handing the keys over to Max because he can scramble for yards.

I think the point is that while Mizzou had the "better" passing defense, as a whole NONE of the opponents EITHER QB faced were great (or even good). So it's not a particularly strong argument to say "look at the competition" when comparing the two. Both faced shitty defenses. It just so happens Brennan played against one team with a slightly less shitty defense (84th overall)

There are absolutely arguments to favor one QB over the other. But level of defense each faced probably isn't the strongest argument for either.

Brennan put up solid numbers against SLIGHTLY better defenses. But he also did it as (1) a 4th year player; (2) with the benefit of two of LSU's best pass catchers (Gilbert and Marshall); (3) in perfect weather conditions (other than being ridiculously hot vs. MSU)

Johnson put up lesser numbers (if you don't factor in rushing) against slightly worse defenses. But he also did it (1) as a true freshman making his first start ever, on the road; (2) without either Marshall or Gilbert, LSU's leading pass catchers (at that point); and (3) in bad weather conditions (vs. Ole Miss); (4) without his two top RBs available

To be honest, Johnson has no reps in the Brady offense.
Brennan had spring and summer of 19 and mopup experience in 19.
If Johnson is named the starter it means he has really impressed the coaches with his learning curve.

I was just replaying to his comment, I fully expect Brennan to start and if we have oline/sack issues for us to go to Johnson, that seems to be the logical choice in all this

I put my money on him before the Texas game. Just had a gut feeling he’d show out vs a Big 12 defense
