we need to call plays like the patriots. They run the ball but have a great short passing game from the shotgun. If you get it out quick it offsets weaqk blocking. I know he isnt tom brady but I think the main thing is he doesnt get the ball out on time. He has a cannon but it takes a while to get it out ala JJ. Remember how fast j. lee's release was? Hope he works on it this week and next.

Didn't Mett play mostly out if the gun in HS and in JC? He would have played under center at UGA, but he wasn't there that long. That might explain the awkwardness. The coaches definitely need to help him work this out.

Randall's ability is being wasted... why do you think top notch qb's won't come to LSU?

Once again this allows the QB to virtually lock onto one receiver as opposed to having to scan the defense.
we've been doing this since 2007. Flynn, Jefferson, Lee, and now Mett have all primarily locked on to one WR.

This is an ongoing issue over the course of 6 seasons spanning 4 different starting QBs. This is by design. It appears that regardless of who we have as OC and QB, we will continue to run passing plays with one target.

How can the offense not have the play-pass with this running game. Why did they bring ZM to LSU? Why on earth did he not get every available snap last year? Only the STAFF can answer that.

LSU needs a good QB and ZM was a solid recruit and is likely more capable than he's shown imo, just like a more mature Lee and younger Jefferson, who started his career off with tons of swag and confidence and lost all ability to throw and make decisions. The problem is that this coaching staff has had their tail between their legs since Lee's freshman year and have become terrified of making a mistake ever since. I don't think it would matter if we had Rodgers, Brees, or any other great QB out there. The current offensive scheme is one to not make mistakes, which sets up the passing game to fail. Guess what happens as a result?

Sounds like 99% of every other college football team with a fairly new QB. [/quote]

Its not like hes fresh out of high school the dude should be able to read defenses and fake handoffs 8 weeks into the season. Dont be a dumbass!!

Do not discount us having lost 3 OL and 1 playing hurt.

DO not discount wr running the wrong routes.

Do not discount the over 30 drops.

Mett has called at the line, appears to call more at the line than JJ.

Our play design at time in the throwing game is questionable...

One out on a route and sometimes only 2.

We are max protecting on the pass plays at times.

Rivers won't play.

Miles didn't play any other QB in the NC and we know how it turned out. Even if we loose to Bama, Miles keeps playing Met to get in something other than the toilet-paper bowl.

Problem is Mett was supposed to be "all that" and he's not. Fans would like to see some of Rivers so we don't have to watch Mett all next season. Me thinks we are in a rut.

Football we are running quick passing plays because of our oline injuries. The coaches said this. They want the ball out of his hands as
quick as possible. Lack of protection has caused this.

I'd expect to see Bolden before Rivers bc mobility and experience.

Neither Rivers or Bolden are good enough to play.

And BOLDEN IS NOT MOBILE!!!!

I honestly dont think Rivers is any better. Miles plays the best players thats one thing i do like about him. Mett is not bad, hes got to work on accuracy. If he hits those open recievers we are looking a hell of alot better. Lets be honest we just dont have the recievers that we thought we did

It's Lee's fault. It's Crowton's fault. It's Jefferson's fault. No, it's Lee; it's Jefferson, it's Crowton. Wait, it's Mett's fault. No, no, no. It' Bush's fault.

I wonder who's more disappointed, the fans or Mett? He's expected to succeed with one hand tied behind his back. He usually has one, maybe two options and at least one is doubled.

Nothing will kill a player's confidence faster than when a coach shows no confidence in him. Passes that used to be incomplete due to drops are now often just over thrown.

We hardly ever run play action, and I'm pretty sure I know why.

I don't think this coaching staff believes in Mett's ability to read a defense. They don't trust him to turn his back to the defense on a run fake, turn his head back to the defense, and diagnose the coverage..

Wow! You do realize play action helps loosening coverages and prevents lbs from getting depth in coverages right?

If it doesn't change quickly (and by quickly I mean in 2 weeks) then we have no chance to beat Bama.
You do realize we've beaten bama with horrible QB play the last two years, right?
