Meh.

Edit: You can be an a-hole coach, as long as you win. When you are an a-hole coach, and don't win, you get the culture BS from players. Then you end up with the below.

Alabama culture is doing just fine right now with that players coach they have over there. Heavy on the sarcasm.

It’s a shame he left to be a sixth round draft pick even after knowing a new coordinator would be hired.

Heck all three DTs that were drafted: Wingo, Jefferson and Smith.

Just think about that. Our pass rush was truly NONEXISTENT last year.

And then 3 of them go on to play in the NFL.

fricking wild.

As good as Swanson, Jones, and Paez are playing, I still believe we were more talented on the D-line last year. It is amazing what firing House and bringing in Baker and an actual defensive line coach has done.

goes back on Kelly, his job here is to coach this team and get us back in the hunt, not to pad the retirement accounts of his cronies

Man 777 you are a piece of work .There is nothing BK can do that
will make you support him.I hope you are miserable the rest of the season.
That will mean we are winning, something you hate.

so you think House did a good job? was a good hire? didn't deserve to get canned sooner? this is pro ball now, results are what matter

I think it’s pretty unarguable that house had good results his first season and it’s a bit unreasonable to say we should’ve fired him after that season. In hindsight sure, but ultimately Kelly made the move to fire House the next year so sounds like he did exactly what you’re complaining about him not doing

agreed, but this is a discussion board and I will discuss, had Kelly taken action earlier(probably in the off season before last year, ) we might be the reigning national champs, with any semblance of a defense last year we probably would have run the table, again, this is my $.02 and this is what this place is for

So... BK should've fired the D coordinator who had just got an extension after a good 1st year? Were you, or anyone else, asking for House to be fired or expressing any reservations at that time? While we're at it, Kyle Shanahan also sucks because he should've moved on from Mccaffrey and Aiyuk before they got injured this year. If he had, they'd be Superbowl contenders now. Results are what matter. We're just discussing.

Up to $.04.

CBK gets all the blame for the train wreck on D last year. He has 30+ yrs of HC-ing experience so no excuses for rookie mistakes. And he gets ALL THE CREDIT for rectifying things this year. Props to him because the improvement on D is a sight for sore eyes.

I mean post it all you want, but you can do this whataboutism about pretty much everything. Judging with the benefit of hindsight is silly, especially when you frame it like it was Brian Kelly sticking to his good ole boys network for too long like it was a cam Cameron situation

If we had fired house after his first season, this whole board (likely you included) would’ve been like WTF. Based on the evidence we had at the time, we had a solid DC that we could build on the momentum from that first year. That turned out to be the opposite of reality and BK made the move as soon as it was feasible to do so. I’m not sure what you want BK to do here besides have a Time Machine to better understand how things will work out

ETA put it this way: if our defense is awful next year, would you be saying that we should have fired Blake baker this year? Can you tell me how good or bad our defense will be next year so that Kelly can make the right decision this time?

Then 2023 happened and all the players and other coaches hate his guts and they made no effort to hide it either. That kind of vitriol has to have more behind it than just playing bad, right? I wonder if we'll ever get the full story.

There is a book coming out explaining it all and what happened at half time in 2011 in the locker room during the NC game. Seriously, we will probably never know and maybe that's for the better.

I think the truth is a lot less scandalous than any of the rumors. No mutiny or fights, just one team came in expecting to win exactly like they did before and one team spent months preparing to solve the weaknesses that got exposed in the loss and game plan against the other team with one of the best coaches/gameplanners/motivators on their side

As pissed off as the fans were KNOWING we had a National Championship caliber Offense but a Defense that was barely functional. Just think about how mad the players had to be.

Not a lot of personnel difference between last year & this one but the Defense is night & day.
