This is fantastic news! Why would they want him?

So do we get paid by Auburn to buy him out of his contract? Don't know how this works to be honest

So, it'll be interesting to see where this goes from here.

My (admittedly unrealistic) wish list:

Orgeron moved to DC
Peeveto moved to LB coach
Kelly brought in as OC
Cam to QB coach
Get somebody already on staff to coach ST (Ensminger?, Miles to keep him away from Offense?)

I have no problem with this. If he wants to leave, then he should leave. The defense did not do poorly this season but they certainly didn't do well enough to warrant a raise.

Read on one of these threads or in something linked in one of them that the buyout is $500,000.00 and would be split equally with Steele paying 1/2 and Auburn paying 1/2)

So you'll laugh and degrade the school because of this? Another complete douche. Remember how your parents said don't play in traffic? Ignore them. Have fun.

What am I supposed to cry because both Chavis and Steele jumped ship???

Well...your assistant coaches probably become a bit skiddish about their job security when the administration unsuccessfully and very publicly tries to fire the head coach and essentially puts the rest of college football on notice that Les's future as the HC at LSU is going to be determined on a year to year basis from here on out.

He has a better chance at losing his head coach at Auburn than LSU by the end of next season.
Just saying, Malzan is on the hot seat.

As a DC, Steele went from the Tigers to the Tigers, and now to the Tigers.

Good to see Steele and Auburn have more class than Chavis and Aggy.

WOW. There's really no good way to spin this happening two years in a row

Well, this year is a blessing so that's at least different.

The only reason this hire makes any sense is that Kevin Steele's brother is a sports admin at Auburn. Other than that I don't really see why they would go after him.

Neither do I, but I'm happy to let that be their problem.

This is very good for LSU

We can now promote Ed O (hopefully) and our defense will improve dramatically

OR

Seeing as how even our own division rivals are poaching our DCs and paying top dollar, it should get other great DCs to want to come here. Shoop, Aranda, Boston College's DC, etc, would also improve LSU dramatically.

Two years in a row Miles' DC leaves despite being implored to stay. Interesting development.
