Why do you think shorter games aren’t better? Because they definitely are

Yeah, I agree. I love the faster pace of the game. The players and coaches will adapt to the rules changes just like they do in every other sport that has new rules. Cutting out an hour or more of players just standing around is a welcome change.

I don't know how anybody can be a fan of some of the rule changes. That crap that happened today was absolute shite. Luckily it benefited LSU, but what's going to happen when it cost LSU in a key SEC series? Some of the rules are changing the game too much for the worse.

I am enjoying the games a little bit less so far this season, because of the rushed feeling. I’d like to some numbers of viewers after this season vs recent seasons.
People have posted on the forums saying they’ll never take college baseball seriously until they switch to wood bats. I seriously doubt these people would become fans if they went to wood bats, and I doubt college baseball sees a measurable increase from these timed rules.

In a month you won’t even realize they are rules

How old are you? Cause from the 40’s til the 80’s the avg baseball game time was 2 - 2:30. Then from the 80’s til just recently it went from 2:30 to 3:30…completely ridiculous.

What value to the game is added by players taking their sweet time adjusting their gloves, their pants, their helmet, and taking practice swings, etc outside the batters box between every pitch? Even sometimes calling time while in their stance just to do it all over again?

The rule changes aren't changing the actual game at all other than making players stop lollygagging and just play ball already. It's still early in the season but once players get used to it fully you'll probably rarely ever see it have to be called and you'll forget it was ever even a thing.

I'm not talking about this.

My biggest concern is with the pitch clock with runners on base. You get one pick off, with a reset of the clock. So after that one pick off the advantage goes insanely to the base runner. You can get a bigger lead and either easily steal the base, or force another pick off and the clock keeps running. We saw this today, to LSU's benefit. Maybe I'm understanding the rule wrong, and I'm wrong about it.

I'm also not a fan of the mound visit clock. Sometimes you need more than 30 seconds. I'd be ok with 2-3 one minute visits per game, with the rest being 30 seconds.

I agree with you on this. I just hate the fact that they are adding a clock to enforce this. The game wasn’t meant to be timed. A clock doesn’t mean shite in a baseball game. You want to limit all of that, fine. Don’t let the batter step out of the box at all unless there’s 2 strikes or he just dodged a fastball high and tight. Cut down on the warmups between innings. Oh that’s right, we can’t sacrifice ad time, can we.

Agree with all of this. I just think we went too far in one direction. Hopefully they find a good middle ground in the future.

Minor Leaguers adapted just fine to the pitch clock last year.

I hate the mound visit 30 second time limit a lot more than I hate the pitch clock. I’m fine with forcing players to get in the box and hit and I’m fine with forcing pitchers to throw the damn ball.

But a coach should be able to coach. If you want to put a time limit on it that’s fine but 30 seconds is ridiculous. It should be two minutes at least.

It's all fine and dandy until it cost LSU in a super regional.

Stop being a pussy.

If it costs LSU a super regional, then LSU has no one to blame but themselves.

So I'm a pussy because I have an opinion of not liking the rule? Me not liking it has nothing to do with it potentially hurting LSU. It hurt Southern, and benefited LSU, today and I still hate it.

The 7 inning game is bad for our young team. It’s fine bc it’s Southern and we didn’t want to embarrass them because we love them but we also didn’t get pitchers and other players some much needed work.

C'mon man... +14 after 7?? its over. You would be the first one complaining about a player getting a needless injury in a meaningless spot in a walkover game.

Sufficient for me is that CJJ is against the new SEC rule re 10 run games. He said he's always used it to get playing time for players who mite otherwise not get any during a game. Pretty sure he's more comfortable with any possible "injuries" that mite occur in 2 innings.

It's for the average fan who may not watch much baseball bc it's naturally a slow game. I didn't watch one baseball game last year. I've watched all 4 so far this year.

Average fan doesn't understand the game within the game. They need to smarten up.

I personally like it but I think like the announcers said, it needs to be reeled in a tad. The mound visits for 30 seconds seems a bit tight. Those should have a little longer especially if it’s a head coach mound visit.
