didnt MM inherit only 1 scholarship player in Mwani Wilkenson? A player who couldn't dribble, pass, or shoot. I also think CMM is the 15th highest paid sec coach
MM showed improvement year 2. I’m not calling for his head. But if he regresses… it’s a different situation than BK. Especially with basketball.

I believe a Coach must be given 4 - 5 years
I think back in Dale's day I would agree with you. In fact he needed all of 4-5 years before you could even begin to see progress with his program. He did not have a team make the post season until his seventh year.
But today's landscape is so totally different. Kids can transfer almost at will if they don't feel they are getting enough playing time. You can do your best as a coach to try to maintain some semblance of stability but for the most part you are starting over almost every year.
So you are going to need a coach that can navigate that situation best. 4-5 years ain't what it used to be and ain't always gonna be granted these days.

4 to 5 years is exactly what we gave Trent and Johnny. Fooloish to wait that long in today's landscape.
If McMahon doesn't have us in tournament this year, he should be in the hot seat. If we finish worse than last year, he should be gone.

I always thought he could coach, just not sure on the recruiting end.

McMahon convinced the 2022 class WW recruited to stay and enroll after WW got fired, that class consisted of a 5 star, 2 4 stars, and a 3 star. Jalen Reed and Tyrell Ward are still on the team.
The 2023 HS class took a step back but he still nabbed a 4 star and a 3 star (Mike Williams) and got tons of transfers
2024 he signed 3 4 stars and the class was ranked 13th, of course supplemented with transfers
2025's is already ranked 11th with potential for more
Now we just need the results to occur but the SEC is tough as balls now

That is 100% false. The guys that CWW had commiteed all decommiteed and CMM was able to piece together a really solid class on his own. Ward, Reid, and Phillips were all CMM recruits, not CWW. Give props where props are due.

Fair enough, I went back and checked as well. My point still stands though about CMM's recruiting chops.

He’s always recruited well he’s just been sub par coaching.

I don't think anyone has really argued otherwise.
It hasn't quite been "elite" as in multiple 5 star, top 20 or so players (very few schools do so), but it has been plenty good enough if you put stock in the rankings. He has two top 100 guys committed for next year and is very much in contention for a top 10 (nationally) player.

So what coaches on campus are any good? Seems like you aren't a fan of any of them.

Same doesn't apply to Kelly I guess
Just from Kelly's contract alone it doesn't apply.

Mulkey
You've hammered Kelly and Mulkey a good bit. And this is an unpopular take but Mulkey is a great great great recruiter but she's an average coach X and O wise.
Edited to say. Not Mulkey but Johnson. Typo

No I haven’t said one negative thing about Mulkey and I critique Kelly when it’s warranted like I do anyone else. Your standard seems to be either you worship a coach, make up excuses and make false claims to cover for them or you hate them which is crazy imo.
Posted on 10/3/24 at 9:21 am to Madking
You can't name one false claim I've made. I have zero problem with critique for a coach when warranted. Like I said I have my issues with Mulkey but she's still the best coach for LSU and wouldn't trade her for anybody. I have a problem with critiques that make no sense or making assumptions before things have played out. Like you with Daniels. You were a bigtime Jayden non believer until all the sudden you were a believer. It's college sports. Players develop. Coaches develop teams. It takes time.

I didn’t say you have I said you judge people negatively who don’t run cover regardless of fact. Your post confirms my point, making accusations you can’t support and twisting a critique into some vendetta that isn’t there.
Posted on 10/3/24 at 10:26 am to Madking
I upvoted because I'm not even sure what that says exactly. I didn't judge anybody. I judged arguments. In fact I've said before you are likely a pretty fun person to sit and chat with. What accusation did I make that I can't support? I know you hate specifics so you won't answer.

we have a solid team and good recruiting, its time to show it on the court.

As a neutral observer to this back and forth, you did accuse him of basically being a flip flopper that makes strong opinions and the changes them on a whim. You also insinuated that he hates all of our coaches. I think you can root for a coach and criticize them when they make mistakes. I also think that its fair to hold an opinion and then change it once you get more evidence.
As for the MadKing, you have been a little all over the place with your opinions in this particular thread. You started by claiming that CMM could have brought back all of CWW's players but they "didn't want to play for him" and then later said that recruiting has never been his issue. This is a bit contradictory. I get it, CMM has to prove he can actually win games consistently but in this thread at least, it feels like you are grabbing onto random arguments on opposite ends of the spectrum to prove your point.

Well you said I was a non supporter until I wasn’t. Trust and proof is earned, that’s how it works, it’s not bashing someone.
